All PRI flake ice generator ‘P’ models operate thesame way. Only their physical size andconsequent capacities differ. Each PRI flake icegenerator is a vertical and double walledcylindrical evaporator. The cylinder remainsstationary and central ice flaking rotor isattached with water ring and Drip shield revolve.Water is pumped into the top of the waterdistributor rotor and then distributed throughthe water rings onto inner freezing surface. Ahigh velocity, very low temperature refrigerant(i.e. (-) 18°C to (-) 26°C) continued between thecylinders walls freezes the almost waterimmediately . Then ice is sub cooled in the dryingimmediately . Then ice is sub cooled in the dryingarc and then the tools shear the ice from thefreezing surface without touching the wall. Theice falls out the bottom of the Ice-generator intothe storage bin. No water is delivered with theice because the drip shield deflects any excesswater into a receiving pan from which it is re-circulated to make more ice. Ice thickness isadjusted by changing the speed of the rotor withvariable speed pulley. Ice can be continuouslyproduced without an attendant. In case of powerfailure, all water drains into the waterrecirculation tank. There is no danger of icesystem freezing up.
