    WORKSHOP C: 9.00am 12.00pm

Mitigating Risks and Insuringyour FLNG Project

Insurance is another potential hurdle for FLNGprojects as no such vessel has ever beeninsured. With this sector emerging strongly, the insurance market is slowly changing itsattitude towards FLNG projects. However, thekey insurance issue remain. The single-vesselnature of an FLNG facility means that since allproduction, storage, liquefaction and ofoadingfacilities are concentrated on one hull, losing thehull means losing the entire project. Exacerbatingthe risk, FLNG technologies remain unproven.

Marsh is a global leader in insurance broking andrisk management and Marsh Energy is at theforefront of the industry providing consultation toover 30 oil and gas clients. These companies areinvolved in LNG plants and FLNG projects.

In this workshop, you will learn how to: Develop and apply risk management

processes for your FLNG project Mitigate emerging and existing risk issues

for FLNG projects at the construction andoperational phases

Evaluate the various options for insuring yourproject

    WORKSHOP D: 1.00pm 4.00pm

Ensuring Legal Governance,Risk Management andCompliance for your FLNGProject: A Case Study Workshop

FLNG projects do not t easily into traditionalmoulds of legal, contracting and complianceregulation frameworks. This new eld ofoffshore gas extraction raises many freshquestions to oil and gas legal experts: Howcan existing contracting and legal frameworks

be applied to FLNGs? Is an FLNG a ship or anoffshore platform? How do legal frameworkstake into account the huge geopoliticalcomplexities of FLNG projects? What are themethods available to determine pricing for longterm gas transactions?

    the list goes on.

HFW has a global footprint of over 450 lawyersoperating in 14 ofces across 11 countries, providing specialist legal advice to oil and gasexperts in the FLNG eld. Currently, HFW isa leading legal rm in the LNG space. Theirpartners work extensively on LNG projects (bothon and offshore) across the globe.

Ensure that your project meets all legal andcompliance requirements for zero legal liabilitythroughout its life cycle. HFW will take youthrough an in-depth case study to look at thelegal and compliance requirements needed ofyour FLNG project, and the different ways tomitigate risk.

In this workshop, you will learn about: The applicable laws and regulations to special

offshore units like FLNGs The available legal structure models for

FLNG projects Aligning the interests of various stakeholders

(JV partners, vessel owners, contractors,et cetera): how legal issues, problems andpotential solutions

    WORKSHOP E: 1.00pm 4.00pm

From Liquefaction to Transfer:Ensuring Safety and Reliabilityfor your FLNG Project: A Pre-Feed Case Study Workshop

FLNG facilities pose fresh safety challenges. Thecomplex liquefaction processes on a motionvessel, combustive uids, risk of cryogenicleakage, unproven technologies, combined in aharsh offshore environment means that safetyprecautions have to be taken seriously.

GL Noble Denton launched its rst safety rulesfor FLNG units back in 1978 and continues tobe a market leader in the FLNG space. Workingon over offshore 20 LNG projects globally, theorganization carried out due diligence work ona FLNG construction project and undertook a35,000-man-hour pre-FEED study to ensurethat all components meet safety standards: wellheads, subsea work, topsides, hull, ofoading,et cetera. This was done totally in house, atestimony to the breadth of expertise that DNVGL has.

    Learn from the best.
