Why- The Florida Assessments for Instruction in Reading The assessments are linked to Florida standards and provide

information for guiding instruction in K-12

A balance of assessment of learning with assessment for learning

Results predict end of year performance on FCAT

Comprehensive set of measures in K-2 focusing on all inter-related elements of learning to read

How is using the Florida Assessments for Instruction in Reading Beneficial? Internet-based assessment tool, K-12

Precise ability placement for Reading Comprehension tasks (K-2 comprehension placement word lists, 3-12 adaptive)

Access to the PMRN for recording student scores

Links to instructional resources for teachers (PMRN reports, search tool, program specific PD)

Who is Assessed? All students in grades K-5 are assessed.

FCAT Levels 1 - 3 are assessed in grades 6 – 10.

FCAT Level 1 students who have not met grad requirements in 11/12th grades .

All schools with capacity are encouraged to assess FCAT level 3 students as well.

Some Differentiated Accountability high schools have opted to assess all students.

GREEN 85% or better probability of scoring at or above grade level on end of the year measures

16-84% probability of scoring at or above grade level on end of the year measures
