2018 FSARN Conference Highlights
The 2018 Florida State Association of Rehabilitation Nurses Annual Educational Conference “Rehab Nurses…the Force is Strong with You” was a lot of fun and as always very interesting and educational. Rehab nurses were there in force- we had 106 participants and 37 vendors. The Star Wars themed booths and decorations were enjoyed by the original and new Stars Wars fans. The Education Committee outdid themselves again. There were presentations on the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), knee replacements, low vision, The Greenhouse Project and our keynote speaker Cheryl Lehman spoke about emerging evidence and research in healthcare, which was enlightening on just how quickly medicine is changing. The vendor reception was a BLAST! Everyone including vendors and participants enjoyed music, food, dancing and the weather by the pool. The band Timeless, was excellent and fans included the conference attendees and other hotel pool guests. The vendors really got into the spirit of the Star Wars theme and provided excellent educational opportunities and exposure to new products, resource information and new technologic advances in rehabilitation care. On Friday the vendors provided great prizes for the participants including gift cards, a Michael Kors purse and a wine basket. Next year’s conference “Too Much Fun in the Sun . . .Rehab to the Rescue” will be another exciting opportunity for rehab nurses to network with peers, learn new information and remaining current in rehab nursing . I am really looking forward to next year, it just seems like the educational conference gets better and better each year.
