Petal is the colorful part of the flower that protects the flower and attracts insects and other pollinators.

Sepals are the part of the flower that cover the petals when at bud stage. They also help protect the flowers buds. On an open flower, they are the usually green parts around the base of the flower like small green leaves.

Stigma The stigma is the sticky part of the pistil that pollen sticks to. The pollen grains enter the pistil and are germinated in the flower's stigma.

Anther the part of the stamen that develops and contains the pollen. The stamen on a flower consists of a four-chambered sac called the anther in which pollen is produced.

Style is the long outgrowth of theovary that supports the stigma that collects pollen from the stamens.

Ovule the outgrowth of the ovary of a plant that encloses an embryo sac; the part of the plant that is pollinated and grows into seeds. After being pollinated, many of the small ovules in the flower's ovary will become seeds, which, when planted, can grow into new flowering plants.

Receptacle is the top of the flower stalk that bears the flower parts.

Ovary is the base partof the pistil that holds the ovules.

Pistil is made up of thestigma, style, ovary and ovules.

Filament is the long thread-like part of the flower that holds the anthers out so insects can get to the pollen.

Stamen is the male part of the flower that is made up of the anther and the filament.

Most plants reproduce with the help of flowers. Help Bud and Sprout name each part of the flower below.
