Health Talents International Guatemala Mission Trip Recap This year eight members from Memorial Road made the trip to Guatemala: Robert, Donna, David, Amanda, Alex, Terry, Drake and I. We were in the town of Chichicastenango, better known as Chichi. Space will not allow me to tell you about the people, the roads, the countryside, the market, the food. What I will write about is the work. Health Talents International has been involved in Guatemala for several years, and anyone who makes the trip does so because of the opportunity to serve. Those who return do so beause of a vested interest. It is one of the most organized works I have ever seen or been involved with. It is a medical mission like none other. Even if you do not have medical expertise, there is a place for you. The people from Guatemala are very strong and hospitable people. The children are amazing. The professionals who live there are some of the most dedicated people I have ever met. The country is in good hands while those of us who visit are away. I would encourage anyone who has a love for people to make this trip of a lifetime. You do not have to speak the language to communicate with the locals. A smile and a kind touch will go a long way. You will come home with many great memories. Thank you Memorial Road for the support you provide both financially and individually. God is blessing this work. - Don Proctor Life Brings GRIEF. Find HOPE. Attend a morning seminar on healthy grieving Saturday, Oct. 11, 9:00-noon in A105-106. We will address aspects of understanding and handling grief in a personal and healthy way. Capitol Hill Church of Christ Update Capitol Hill Church of Christ is enjoying a season of growth, both numerically and spiritually, as more and more people are find-ing their way onto our buses and into our building. Our six vans fill up every week, and many often have to run double routes to ac-commodate all of those who wish to attend our services. We finished off a fantastic summer in our Children’s Minis-try where our annual Summer Program, a literacy and Bible day camp, was a great success. We were completely full to wait-listed throughout the summer, with 60-70 children in regular attendance and nine interns as teachers, van drivers, and mentors to assist the Children’s Ministry team. Our school year was kicked off, with YOUR help, as we sent about 150 kids back to school with supplies and uniforms to make their year a success! We have had many request Bible studies and baptism as we are rounding out the year. Because of such a wonderful year of growth, we are in need of more and more volunteers who are willing to drive vans, teach class, or act as classroom helpers. Each of our classes need at least one more helper each week, and our van drivers also need at least one more helper as co-pilot. If you are looking for an opportunity to make an impact on a vital, living ministry of Christ, please consider visiting Capitol Hill Church of Christ! We would love to show you around and intro-duce you to the people who are earnestly seeking God in our inner city ministry! For any questions, please contact Melia Mullins at [email protected] (Elementary Ministry), Amanda Peters at [email protected] (Preschool and Nursery Ministry), Matthew Brazle at [email protected] (Youth Ministry), or Pancho Hobbes at [email protected] (Adult Ministry).
