Choose a room in this house that you would like to live in and explain why you would like to live there.
If you would like a challenge, you could also write a description of this house or a story.
Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 2: Shape hunt!
Today we are going to be checking that we remember all our 2D shape names. Once we have done this, we are going on a shape hunt to see what 2D shapes we can find around the house!
Recap the shapes by watching: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zhnvcdm

Bramley Church of England Primary Task 3: Homes through the ages

Task 4: Design a house for either; a dinosaur, a pixie,
an alien, the Gruffalo or a monster of your own design.
Label the features of your home and write why you included those features.
Think back to your zoo enclosures, you thought of all the things that it would need to make that animal happy; you can do a similar thing for these home designs. Think about what rooms would be good, what size the house needs to be, would your character like to have neighbours?
Upload a photo of your design to Seesaw.
5
Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 5: SEESAW
Start by watching the video below to remind you about 3D shape names!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zps34wx
Now, what 3D shapes can you find around your house? Think about rummaging through your recycling too.
Keep anything you find as it will help you later in the week,
Take a photo of your objects and upload it to Seesaw. Label the shapes with their names.
6
Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 6: Look at the appliances below, there is a picture of an appliance that we use now and what would have been used before it was invented. Write down what is the same and what is different about them.
Keeping food cold and fresh: What is the same and what is different?
Icebox then vs fridge now
Washing clothes: What is the same and what is different?
Washboard then vs Washing machine now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxyLVZqpu1o
Drying clothes: What is the same and what is different?
Mangle then vs tumble dryer now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNrGdTkczVo
Cleaning floors: What is the same and what is different?
Dustpan and brush then vs hoover now
7
Icebox: A large block of ice is put in a tray near the top of the box. Cold air goes down and around the lower section. Underneath there is a drip pan which has to be emptied at least daily. New ice needs to be put in regularly and was delivered by a person called the iceman.
Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 7: Write an advert to sell a house. You can make up a house to sell, you could write an advert for your home or somewhere that you have visited. Use the examples below to help you but please write you adverts in full sentences.
When someone wants to buy a house they look at adverts of houses that they can buy. There are a lot of particular words used in these adverts.
Key words-
Detached house- not joined to any other houses
Semi-detached house- joined to one other house
Terraced house- a row of houses that are joined together
Flat
Bungalow- has 1 floor and no stairs
Property- a word to describe a building that you can buy
Your advert needs to make the home sound wonderful, to persuade someone to live there. You will need to say what rooms there are and other features that make it a good place to live eg. A garden, garage, conservatory, park nearby, driveway.
Look at the examples below to help you with ideas:

Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 8: 2D shape properties
When we talk about the properties of 2D shapes, we normally talk about how many corners and sides they have.
Sides can be straight or curved. Corners are where the sides meet.
So a triangle has 3 corners and 3 straight sides.
Complete below:

Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 9: What is the best material to use to make a waterproof roof?
You are going to test different materials that you can find at home. You could test:
Toilet paper
Cling film
Tin foil
Kitchen towel
Tea towel
You will need to use the same amount of water on each piece of material to make sure that it is a fair test. You could use a measuring jug or spoon.
What material was the best (most waterproof)? How do you know?

Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 11: 3D shape properties
Remind yourself about the correct words to use when describing 3D shape properties by watching the Seesaw video.
Can you work out which shape I am talking about by its properties? You might want to use the 2D shapes you found around your house earlier in the week to help you.

Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 12: Den building
With this week’s theme being ‘Homes’, we are challenging you to build your own den. This could be inside or outside, using anything you can get your hands on and you must be able to fit inside.
Once it’s finished upload a photo to Seesaw for us to see!
Have fun!

Task 14: Reasoning
Can you use the shape knowledge you have learnt this week to help you solve these problems?
17
Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 15: Create a map of your local area.
Imagine you are a bird, flying high over your home. What would you see? What is near to your house? Have a go at creating a bird’s eye view map of where you live. You might want to use google maps to help you get started and then draw, label and colour in your map.
Here is a bird’s eye view map of the school. Yours won’t have quite as much detail in but try to include the main features, similar to the examples underneath.
