Key Achievements

The Ministry is presently executing a wide range of projects designed to open up the Niger Delta Region and meet the set targets;

• Construction of Onne Free Zone – Nchia – Afam - Imo River road being handled by Hinterland Nigeria Limited

• The Ministry is having funding support from SURE – P on two other roads namely; reconstruction of Owerri – Omerelu segment, it measures 35.75km and dualization of Port Harcourt / Aba Express Way – Obehia – Azumini – Ukanafun road section I & II measuring 50km.

• Construction of Obehia – Akwete – Etinan road linking Abia and Akwa Ibom States

• The Ministry is handling four Community water projects in Imo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Ondo States. • These projects upon

completion will provide portable water to 57 communities in the affected States.

Electrification projects• The Ministry is also engaged in the

electrification of four communities in the Niger Delta Region.

• Out of this number, three have been completed, awaiting commissioning.

• They are: in Khana, Khana Local Government Area, Eleme, in Eleme Local Government Area both in Rivers State and Erei in Cross River State.

• At the end of these projects, 487km of power distribution lines and 211 numbers of transformers would have been installed through the intervention of the Ministry.

Housing Projects

• The housing projects in the Nine states have almost been completed. The Housing Projects in Cross River, Delta, Edo and Imo States are ready for commissioning

• The provision of infrastructure and fencing for the estates are at either advanced stage or completed.

• The houses are 40 Units in each of the Nine States, located within the oil bearing communities. These comprise of 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows.

Skill Acquisition Centres

• The various Skills Acquisition Centres initiated by the Ministry for the training of the youths of the Region and other willing Nigerians have attained various levels of completion targets. Baring any last minute hitches, the one at:

• Bayelsa State

Skill Acquisition Centres

• The Centres are to handle training on Oil and Gas, Electrical/Electronics, Theatre Arts, Commerce and Industry, among others. They are located in each of the 9 States of the Niger Delta Region
