Floreat Montague Park School Newsletter – Friday 19th July 2019
FMP NEWS
End of another year!
As another school year almost draws to a close, we would like to thank
all of the parents for their excellent support and engagement this year.
As this is my last FMP newsletter, I would like to take the opportunity to
thank all of the wonderful pupils, staff and parents for a wonderful 9
months. I have very much enjoyed being part of the Floreat community
and know that the school will continue to flourish next year. I wish you
all a wonderful summer break!
Miss Davis
Staff farewells
At the end of this term, we say farewell to Mrs Smith, who is taking up
a role in a Nursery School and Mr Fekete, who is leaving us to take up a
new challenge. We wish these members of staff well and thank them
for their service. Mr Duffy will join us in September as Caretaker, and
outdoor learning will continue to be run across the school led by the whole
team as Mr Pritchett has a real vision for the development of our
grounds and local outdoor learning opportunities.
Road Safety
A meeting was held at the school recently to discuss the traffic and safety
around the school. The following time scales were agreed:
The footpath from William Heelas Way/Baker Crescent to the
school will reopen for September 2019.
The two zebra crossings will be completed for September 2019.
The toucan crossing is aimed be completed for October 2019.
Double yellow lines will be in place along William Heelas Way
during Autumn 19.
The bridge works will commence very soon so it is recommended
that vehicles DO NOT park beyond the school gate.
The bridge is aimed for completion during 2020.
The DWH site will be complete by September 2020.
Start and End of the Day Arrangements
for September
At the start of the day all of the children will line up on the
playground as they do now.
The exception to this is Year 3 who may be left at the playground
gate should parents choose to and will then line up on their own by
the fire exit doors beyond Mandela class.
From September, at the end of the day, all of the children will be
dismissed from their classroom doors. Nursery and Reception at the
front of the school and Year 1, 2 and 3 onto the playground.
Year 3 will exit from the same fire door as the one they enter in
the mornings.
Autumn Term Clubs
In the Autumn Term the wide variety of clubs will continue and Mr
Pritchett will do a full review of these, both to review cost and
range of provision. To begin this process, clubs in the Autumn Term
will range between £2 and £8 in cost.
Full club details will come home in September.
.
Donations from the Trust
The Trustees of Floreat are kindly donating funds to install a
Dewey Decimal System for our wonderful new library and to
improve the staff room facilities as our team grows.
We give a huge thank you to them.
Service Learning
As part of our Character curriculum, children enjoyed taking part in
different Service Learning Projects, which allow them the opportunity to
serve their community, family and other children. This week the school
has been full of amazing service learning.
The Year 1 children have hosted their own picnic events, where they have
prepared food and made kites to enjoy with their families as a sign of
gratitude.
In Year 1, the children have baked, iced and given biscuits to the
local police and fire brigade to thank them for serving our
community and showing such bravery.

FMP NEWS
In Year 2, the children served the local community by going litter picking
in the local area. After returning to school, they made posters to
encourage people to remember to pick up their litter.
Year 2 children have been supporting the Nursery children in their play
by being excellent role models and showing such kindness to our youngest
children.
In Reception, the
children have planned
and prepared a tea
party for their
families to show their
gratitude. They
prepared sandwiches,
decorated biscuits and
made decorations.
The Nursery children are looking forward to baking some delicious treats
for their adults in preparation for their Afternoon Tea on Tuesday at
3pm. We look forward to seeing our Earhart parents there!

Reading
Join the Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge from July to
September. This year’s Summer Reading Challenge takes place in space,
in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing.
With lots of help from children taking part
in the Challenge, the Rockets will go on a
mission to try and find the missing books and
introduce the aliens to the wonders of the
library, where they can share stories together.
There’s plenty of peril along the way, from
black holes and shooting stars to the murky
depths of the alien ship. Let the Space Chase
begin!
The challenge will run from Monday 1st July to Sunday 1st September
2019.
