The follow up FOCUS GROUP

Page 2: Focus group

In summary the focus group decided the would like to see 3-4 different outfits within the adverts because they want to be kept entertained throughout the advert. This will then mean that we can show the audience a wide range of different outfits but not too many so they will want to check out the website for themselves.

QUESTION ONE; HOW MANY OUTFITS WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE

IN OUR ADVERT.

Page 3: Focus group

Niamh said she would like to see a low profiled model, this was expected because the simulacrum of the celebrity becomes more known and desirable and makes more sense to the viewer to see them in an advert rather than a real person.

But Georgia, Katy and Jen feel that by having a lower profiled model it would fit the brand better as we are a new brand coming onto the scene. Maybe when the brand grows we will then begin to feature higher profiled models or celebrity's.

QUESTION 2; WOULD YOU PREFER A CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT OR A

LOW PROFILED MODEL

Page 4: Focus group

We have decided to feature two models within the sponsorship sequence, this will then make it easier to show a narrative when we have two models.

However; for the day and night advert we will only feature one model, this will be because we want the audience to focus on the clothes of the advert, and if we have too may they wont be bale to understand who is the main model.

We would also like the model to be the face of the campaign. This will allow us to be able to market her as part of the brand and allow the audience to know her to be the face of the brand and recognise her when she is on TV.

QUESTION 3; WOULD YOU PREFER TO SEE ONE MODEL OR TWO?

Page 5: Focus group

We will feature similar effects in the adverts. For example the black and white shot, the mirror effect and the rewind effect. This will allow our audience to see those effect and to be able to notice that they are part of our brand.

We need to make sure that there are similarity between the adverts because we need to make sure that viewers can identify that the adverts are ours.

By having the adverts different in narrative and location it will then make people want to watch them as they wont be seen as the same advert. This will then make it more entertaining for the viewers as they may feel like they are watching something new.

QUESTION 4; AS WE HAVE TWO MAIN ADVERTS WOULD YOU PREFER

THEM TO BE SIMILAR OR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

Page 6: Focus group

We will be putting the brand name at the end, this will then make sure that the audience will remember the brand name after watching the advert.

Jen hall thinks that it should be feature at the beginning and the end of the advert. Again this will then make it more memorable for the audience. However we feel that we should only have one as we want to get the advert starting straight away to lock the audiences attention. And by making the audience guess who the brand is, it will then make them pay more attention.

QUESTION 5; DO YOU FIND IT MORE EFFECTIVE IF THE BRAND NAME IS AT THE BEGINNING OR THE END?

Page 7: Focus group

I think Atlantic is a better font to use because we feel that it is better for our brand. The focus group decided that this looked best and they would rather see this on our adverts.

QUESTION 6; WHICH FONT DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD USE?

Page 8: Focus group

By having a less well known song it will then mean, as well as the audience finding out new clothes and a new brand. They are also finding out about a new song, we can apply the uses and ratifications theory here as the audience will be receiving entertainment and information by watching the video.

QUESTION 7; WOULD YOU PREFER A MORE UPBEAT SONG OR A MORE

LESS WELL KNOW SONG.

Page 9: Focus group

By having the black and white shot it will then make the advert more memorable because it will be seen as something that we will only do in our adverts. This will then mean that the audience can identify the advert by what is happening in the effects of the advert.

QUESTION 8; DO YOU THINK THE USE OF A BLACK AND WHITE SHOULD WOULD MAKE THE ADVERT MORE MEMORABLE

AND EFFECTIVE.

Page 10: Focus group

The focus group decided that a mixture of shots would make the advert seem more interesting and would show a wider range of angles of the clothing. Allowing the audience to get a better look at the clothes and for them to be more entertained by the advert.

QUESTION 9; WHAT SORT OF SHOT TYPES DO YOU THINK IS

APPROPRIATE FOR ADVERTISING CLOTHING/
