The Church is not afraid to reveal the sins of her members, which some try at times to hide, before
the burning light of the word of the Gospel, which cleanses and purifies. Nor does she stop
reciting each day, in shame: “Have mercy on me, Lord, in your kindness… my sin is always before me” (Ps 51:3.5). Still, let us never forget that we
must not abandon our Mother when she is wounded, but stand beside her, so that she can
summon up all her strength and all her ability to begin ever anew.
La Iglesia no teme mostrar los pecados de sus miembros, que a veces algunos de ellos intentan disimular, ante la luz ardiente de la Palabra del
Evangelio que limpia y purifica. Tampoco deja de recitar cada día, avergonzada: «Piedad de mí,
Señor, por tu bondad. […] Tengo siempre presente mi pecado» (Sal 51,3.5). Pero
recordemos que no se abandona a la Madre cuando está herida, sino que se la acompaña para que saque de ella toda su fortaleza y su capacidad de comenzar siempre de nuevo.

The Nave of the Church (main church) has a limit of 50 people per Mass.
Sign up is required to reserve your seat. Please visit our website to sign up for your preferred Mass. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to allow for
seating procedure. Check in at table, sanitize hands and
procure mask if needed. Usher will escort you to your seat, (families can
sit together) and give you Worship Aid, (please take Worship aid home with you).
Receiving Eucharistic - Usher will direct you (and family) to receive the Eucharist keeping
social distancing in mind. Dismissal - Usher will direct parishioners out of Mass
keeping social distancing in mind. Please wait your turn.
Bulletins will be passed out as you leave the church. This is new for all of us, PLEASE BE PATIENT!
MASS IS BACK!! In accordance to the Bishop’s decree,
St. Philip the Apostle can resume Mass! The Mass times are
Sat. 5:00pm (English) and 6:30pm (Spanish). On Sunday, 8:00am and 10:30am.

Happy Memorial Day! In honor of Memorial Day the office will be closed
Monday May 25th. Mass will be celebrated at 12:00pm.
Eucharistic Adoration will resume on Tuesday, May 26th.

La Fiesta Judía de la Pascua se celebró 50 días después de la Pascua. Los Judíos fieles hicieron una peregrinación
a Jerusalén y ofrecieron a Dios los "primeros frutos" de la cosecha de trigo.
Con el tiempo, la Fiesta de la Pascua llegó a conmemorar también la entrega de la Ley en el Monte Sinaí y la fundación de Israel como nación. Según Éxodo 19: 16-19, Dios descendió en
forma de fuego acompañado por el fuerte sonido de las trompetas. El escritor Judío del siglo primero Philo de
Alejandría afirma que una voz salió del fuego que la gente pudo entender claramente durante el evento del Sinaí. ¿Te imaginas escuchar la voz de Dios en un idioma que puedas entender???
En el Nuevo Testamento, el Cordero de Dios (Jesús) se sacrifica durante la semana de Pascua y, he aquí, 50 días después, hay
fuego, un sonido fuerte y un discurso milagroso que es entendido por personas de diferentes idiomas.
¿Coincidencia? Yo creo que no. Dios está repitiendo en Pentecostés lo que hizo en el
Sinaí siglos antes. "Retratado como un nuevo evento del Sinaí, el descenso del Espíritu Santo en Pentecostés marca otro punto de inflexión en la historia de la salvación, el nacimiento del nuevo
pueblo del pacto de Dios, la Iglesia", dice el Dr. Edward Sri. Dios le dio a su pueblo Israel la Ley Divina y toda la humanidad Ley Natural, pero no pudimos guardar el
Código Moral debido a nuestros corazones de piedra. Este sigue siendo el caso hoy. Sabemos lo que es correcto muchas veces,
pero aún no lo hacemos porque somos débiles, temerosos y orgullosos. Sí, somos pecadores. Siglos antes de Pentecostés,
Dios prometió darnos un nuevo corazón. “Te daré un nuevo corazón, y pondré un nuevo espíritu dentro de ti; y sacaré de tu
carne el corazón de piedra y te daré un corazón de carne. Y pondré mi espíritu dentro de ti, y haré que camines en mis
estatuas” (Ezequiel 36: 26-27). El Espíritu Santo es la "nueva ley" que nos da corazones de carne para que podamos entregar
nuestras vidas a Dios por completo. “Esta nueva ley haría mucho más que informar a las personas de un código
moral que deberían seguir. En realidad, le daría a las personas una fuerza sobrenatural para elevarse por encima de su naturaleza humana débil y caída y caminar en los
caminos de Dios," dice el Dr. Sri. Necesitamos el Espíritu Santo. El Espíritu
Santo habita en nosotros, camina a nuestro lado y nos ayuda a amar a Dios,
a nosotros mismos y a los demás. ¡Ven, Espíritu Santo!
The Jewish Feast of Passover was celebrated 50 days after Passover. Faithful Jews made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and offered to “first fruits” of
the wheat harvest to God. Over time the Feast of Passover came to commemorate also the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai and the founding of
Israel as a nation. According to Exodus 19:16-19, God descended in the form of fire accompanied by the loud
sound of trumpets. First century Jewish writer Philo of Alexandria asserts that a voice came forth from the fire that the people could understand clearly during the Sinai event. Can you imagine hearing the voice of God in a
language you could understand???? In the New Testament, the Lamb of God (Jesus) is sacrificed during the week of Passover and, lo and behold, 50 days later
there is fire, a loud sound, and miraculous speech that is understood by people of different languages.
Coincidence? I think not. God is repeating at Pentecost what He did at Sinai centuries before. “Portrayed as a new Sinai event, the descent of the
Holy Spirit at Pentecost marks another turning point in salva-tion history, the birth of the new covenant people of God, the
Church,” says Dr. Edward Sri. God gave His people Israel the Divine Law and all humanity
Natural Law, but we were unable to keep the Moral Code because of our hearts of stone. This is still the case today.
We know what is right a lot of the time, but we still don’t do it because we are weak, fearful, and prideful. Yep, we are
sinners. Centuries before Pentecost God promised to give us a new heart. “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will takeout of your flesh the heart
of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my stat-
ues” (Ezekiel 36:26-27). The Holy Spirit is the “new law” that gives us hearts of flesh so we can give our lives over to God completely. “This new law would do much more than inform people of a moral code they should follow. It would actually give people a supernatural strength to rise above
their weak, fallen human nature and walk in God’s ways,” says Dr. Sri. We need the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit dwells in us, walks beside us, and helps us love God, ourselves, and others.
