  • Exercise and greater levels of physical activity for people with Parkinson Disease not only results in positive improvements in symptoms (emotional, cognitive, physical, and non-motor), but it may be disease modifying! This means greater levels of physical activity may slow disease progression. Exercise programs developed specifically for the treatment of Parkinson Disease are continually evolving while proving highly effective in both practice and research. Staying current on the latest developments is critical to providing effective treatment of Parkinson Disease. Pain and Balance PT has added certification in Wellness and Recovery treatments for Parkinson Disease. The essential principles are supported by the new 2016 European Parkinson Guidelines and involve the training of progressive aerobics and

PD-specific functional skill training exercise that optimizes brain health (neuroprotection), brain change (neuroplasticity) and function.Training also addressed overcoming non-motor symptoms, such as stress and the inactivity that interferes with physical capacity, participation, and quality of life. The goal is to integrate medical/rehabilitation with community-based exercise and wellness programs. Patients will cycle back and forth between PD-specific rehab and community exercise and wellness programs. This approach fosters social participation and reduces inactivity. When a therapy improves the overall quality of life it is achieving one of the most essential goals in medicine and greatly enhances wellness and the prospects of recovery.

    New Year

    Testimonial

New Year’s resolutions promise us a fresh start, a new beginning. A second chance. In all honesty, do we need a date on a calendar to dictate when this can begin? Not exactly. However, having a date such as January 1, the literal beginning of the new year, is a symbol we may take comfort in.Turning the page on a new year allows us to attribute our negative traits and failures to our past selves. By blaming our past selves, we can create and better maintain a positive image of our current selves. We feel more motivated and empowered to work hard toward reaching our goals when we feel like our past failures are behind us, and our future success is ahead of us.In essence, the act of forging a new beginning, also acts as a marker to let go of past mistakes and anxieties and wounds that no longer serves us. We are not only saying ‘hello’ to new commitments, but we are saying ‘goodbye’ to old baggage.Although we don’t need January 1 to remind us to wipe our slate clean and embark on new beginnings, this date ultimately provides us with a significant symbol..Here’s to 2019, everyone. Let’s make it count!

“After suffering for over 40 years and trying lots of different treatments, nothing had really worked. Even a laser procedure was unsuccessful. My pain levels could be as high as 9 or 10. After the mild® procedure I experienced immediate results. My pain levels have dropped to 1 or 2. I can stand longer and walk further. I’m really glad that I did this. The low invasiveness made the recuperation time minimal.Dr. Grace is terrific, very considerate. He took the time to explain everything. As for the mild® procedure, I’d say.... go for it! ” Dolores H. - mild® Procedure Patient
