Calculating Food Requirement

How to calculate energy requirement?A formula for calculating approximate energy requirements in healthy

adults is:Daily energy = Basal Metabolic Rate(BMR) + Activity expenditureBMR = Weight(kg) x 25 kcalActivity expenditure: Modest = 0.3 x BMR

Moderate = 0.4 x BMRHeavy = 0.5 x BMR

The approximate requirement for a 70kg person with moderate activity is estimated as follows:BMR = 70kg x 25kcal = 1750kcalActivity expenditure = 0.4 x 1750kcal = 700 kcalDaily energy = 1750kcal + 700 kcal = 2450kcal.
