Kyle’s breakfast: fried egg, fried bacon and grilled sausages.

Kyle’s school lunch: Ham sandwich (white bread), can of cola and chocolate bar.

From looking at the food that Kyle eats in a typical day, do you think that he has a balanced diet?

What changes should he make?

CarbohydrateCarbohydrates are two types

of sugars and starch, it also gives us energy. For example: pasta and rice are carbohydrates.

ProteinProtein is needed for growth

and repair, for example: chicken and fish.

FatFat is needed for insulation,

protection and energy, for example: butter and oil.

VitaminsVitamins keep us healthy, for

example: fruit and vegetables.

MineralsMinerals are needed for strong

bones and teeth to keep us healthy, for example: fruit and vegetables.

FibreFibre prevents constipation,

for example: spinach and lettuce.

WaterWater is needed for

transport, sweat and cell structure.
