Consumers in 2012 will be more demanding than ever. We present five key trends that cannot be ignored by operators if they want to succeed.
Pricing - rising commodity prices globally is putting further pressure on operators. Consumers are not just looking for low prices but also value for money when choosing where to eat out.
Technology – the adoption of new technology allows faster ordering for consumers (even outside the store) and more flexibility for operators.
Social media - gives operators the opportunity to engage with consumers like never before. Interacting and listening to consumers will increasingly shape operators’ future strategies.
Premiumisation - shifts the consumers’ focus away from price as well as generating higher margins for the operators.
FMCG – Operators are expanding their brands and products outside of their outlets and into retail stores in an attempt to gain sales and new customers.
