THE SCARAB CLUB BUILDING FUNDBuilt in 1928, the clubhouse of the Scarab Club of Detroit is listed in the National

Register of Historic Places. It is considered the best existing example of the Arts andCrafts style of architecture.

Time has taken its toll on our majestic building, particularly the roof. There are tilesmissing on both the east and west sections of the mansard portion of the roof and theflat section needs to be replaced. The building committee has received estimates for

these repairs. The cost to replace the mansard portion is estimated at $13,000.00,which would include patching of the flat portion, the cost to tear off and replace theflat roof is estimated to be $15,000.00, for a total of $29,000.00. A temporary patching

job needs to be done until the entire roof can be replaced. We have received anestimate of $4,200.00 for these repairs.

The persons and organizations listed below have contributed generously to thisproject. To these culturally minded citizens and representatives of these civic mindedcorporations, we owe a debt of gratitude. A golden lapel pin will be presented for all

donations of $100.00 or more.

The list will be updated and published in "The Buzz," until we reach our goal, when acertificate will be presented to the board. May we add your name?
