Ambrose and Chief of Police Darnell Henry promoted 42 police officers at a public ceremony held at Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark today. “This is a very exciting day for the City of Newark as we continue to add new supervisors within the Department of Public Safety,” Mayor Baraka said. “These promotions reflect the ongoing growth and progress within our Police Division, which requires the keen oversight of seasoned and effective leaders.” “These promotions underscore our plan to broaden the leadership within the Police Division,” Director Ambrose said. “Additional supervision is required to ensure that our rank and file members receive training and guidance from the best and brightest, as reflected through these promotions.” Camilo Mos was sworn into the rank of Deputy Chief along with Captains Christopher Brown, Joseph Pastore and Darrell White. Mayor Baraka and Public Safety Director Ambrose Promote 42 Police Officers

Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose and Chief of Police Darnell Henry promoted 42 police officers at a public ceremony held at Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark today.

Brown, Nancy Caballero, Manuel Cortez, Terrell Day, Mauricio Domingues, Lenin Genao, Ronney Godwin, Doris Gonzalez, Mario Gonzalez, Nicholas Hannibal, Shelly Horn, Danny Johnson, Niecole Kelly, Anthony Maldonado., Sequoya Martin, Charles McCrea, Louis Medina, Tyrone Morton, Murad Muhammad, Franklin Murchinson, Wafiyyah O’Hara, Edwin Padilla, Tremayne Phillips, Germaine Poyotte-Smith, Samantha Robinson, Martha Rodriguez, Altemise Scott, Miguel Silva, Phillip Turzani, Francisco Vilasoa, Celso Vinueza and Kiva Williams.

United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey Craig Carpenito attended the ceremony. Also witnessing the promotions were Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, Essex County Sheriff Armando B. Fontoura, FBI Special Agent in Charge Gregory W. Ehrie among other city, county, state and federal officials in attendance.
