Cycle the Leighton to Aspley Woods RouteDistance: 12 miles/20 km Route: On-road to an off-road destinationFeatures: Pubs, Station Links (change at Bletchley), Jumps and downhill skills siteTo obtain a permit to ride the trails see “Useful Contacts”.Part of the Duke of Bedford’s Estate, Aspley Woods are open to the public and have many all-ability bridleways for cyclists to explore. Abike permit enables cyclists to explore even more tracks and also to use the mountain bike jumps and downhill skills area. The ridethere is along country roads with an option to use the (surfaced) canal towpath for some of the route. Alternatively you can get thereby train to Bow Brickhill or Woburn Sands via Bletchley.
Cycle the Leighton to Ashridge RouteDistance: 25 miles/40 km Route: On-road and canal towpath to an off-road destinationFeatures: Pubs, Cafés, Ashridge National Trust Woodland Centre & Bridgewater Monument, TringReservoir
Head for the hills of Ashridge and the lovely village of Aldbury following either the canal towpath (this section is not surfaced) orcountry lanes. And if you’re too exhausted to ride home again, hop on a train at Tring station! As well as pubs en route and atAldbury, there is a café at the Ashridge Visitor Centre at the Bridgewater Monument.
Cycle the Buckinghamshire Villages RouteDistance: 12 - 28 miles/20 - 35 km Route: On-road Features: Pubs, Ascott House (National Trust)Ride out to the west of Leighton-Linslade and explore the delightful country roads and charming villages across the border inBuckinghamshire. Pleasant views and pubs enhance the journey. There are two shorter loops shown here, which can be joined tomake one longer circuit.
Cycle the Totternhoe & Dunstable RouteThe Sewell Greenway Route 6 of the Sustrans National Cycle Network
Distance: 12 - 28 miles/20 - 35 km Route: Half on-road, half on gravel tracks Features: Pubs, Shopping, Theatre, Off-road trailsJoin the Sustrans National Cycle Route 6 at Stanbridge and follow it along the Sewell Greenway to Dunstable for some shopping or avisit to the Grove Theatre. Or turn off this old railway path for some off-road riding around the green lanes of Totternhoe. There isalso a new surfaced cycle route up to Dunstable Downs which links to the Greenway.
Cycle the Leighton-Linslade LoopDistance: 30 miles/48 km (complete circuit) Route: On-road and surfaced canal towpathFeatures: Pubs, Ascott House (National Trust), Stockgrove Country Park
Spend a day cycling round the country roads and villages encircling Leighton Buzzard and Linslade. Or just use segments of the routefor shorter rides. Plenty of pubs along the way for refreshment stops.
Cycle the Family CircleDistance: 3 miles/5 kmRoute: Nearly all traffic-free routesFeatures: Tiddenfoot Waterside Park - ideal picnic spot
A circular route almost entirely traffic-free which is perfect for familiesand less experienced cyclists. Why not take a picnic to enjoy beside thelake at Tiddenfoot Waterside Park?
