Mimic Configuration Tool

This Mimic Configuration tool can be used to program the LED illuminations on an A3 Mimic panel (Gent codenumber: VIG-MIM-A3) and A2 mimic panels having Mark 4 Master Repeat Card.

The tool allows a variety of illuminations to be configured on a Mimic panel, to announce events of fire, fault andsupervisory in the connected fire detection and alarm system. The Mimic panel is configured using this tooloff-line or whilst it is still connected to a loop circuit of the fire alarm system to give the required illuminations.

Application of Mimic illuminations

A mimic panel is primarily used to indicate fire event(s) that are detected in the fire alarm system by illuminatingLEDs behind an overlay plan fitted inside a mimic panel. The plan is usually a layout of a building or areaswithin the building. The following examples show the A3 Mimic panel.

Typical uses

The fire event illuminations at a mimic panel allows responsible persons and firefighters to seepictorially where in a building/area fire event(s) were detected .

The fault event illuminations at a mimic panel allows the people responsible for sitemaintenance to see pictorially the parts of the fire detection and alarm system requiringattention.

The supervisory event illuminations at a mimic panel can be used as an indicator of the status ofplant equipment.

System Tree

The system tree is used to define the domain, panel, zone, loop, devices, channels, command builds and cardsfor the purpose of linking shapes of illumination at the Mimic panel in event condition(s).

Events such as fire, fault and supervisory have their own defined 'system tree', these can be for eitherstandalone system or a networked system.

Defined LED shapes are linked to the respective part of the system tree. When there is an event in the systemthe status of the component will change and the linked LED shape will illuminate. The illumination of LEDsbehind the site plan on the mimic panel pictorially identifies the location of the event.

How to determine what components are required in the system tree

You will need to decide areas covered by the Mimic panel and the location of the panel installation. You willalso need to decide which event indications are required, Fire, Fault or Supervisory or any combination of thethree event types.

To construct the system tree you will need to know details of the standalone system or networked systemsconfiguration. This information can be easily determined from the site specific drawings of a new system.Additionally the system information can be determined by viewing the site files in the commissioning tool or byviewing the [info] menu at the fire control panel.

How to define a Fire system tree

15

Mimic Configuration Tool

The action of an LED can be configured for Off, On, Normal flash or Anti-phase flash.

• Off action - LED will switch Off.

• On action - LED will switch On.

• Normal flashing - LED will flash

• AntiPhase flashing - LED will flash Anti Phase, opposite to normal flash

Pre-defined text messages

The shapes 0 to 4 are text messages configured in 'Panel Basics', they can be redefined here if required. Theillustration below shows the welcome text message.

When you click on any LED position:first time - you get a Steady On indicationsecond time - a normal flashing indicationthird time - an Anti phase flashing indication.

This example shows a customshape in the form of an arrow. The shape can be Steady ‘On’or ‘Flashing’.

Once created this custom shapecan be added as a newshape in to the ‘Shapes’ list.

These are theLEDs that make

the arrow shape.

You can at any time clear thedisplay and start again andcreate a new shape.

You can unlock an existingshape and edit it andthen save it to as an existingshape or as a new shape.

Although not shown here it is important to giveeach shape a meaningful name to associateit with system components in the System tree.
