Focus
• Focus can be used expressively e.g. deep focus shot at end where Kay moves close to camera and out-of-focus whilst Michael is literally – and – metaphorically focused
The Godfather
Discussion Points1. Are all the killings fair/ just? Why/ why not?
2. Who do you blame for Sonny’s death? (i.e.- Could he be held responsible? Or one of his family members?)
3. When does Michael first show his leadership qualities?
4. Why is it important that Michael, who was not supposed to be a part of the family, becomes the Don by the end of the film?
5. Why do you think the filmmaker decides to have Sonny and Apollonia’s murders occur one after the other?
6. How does Michael’s relationship with Kay contribute to audience’s understanding of him? Subquestion: Why does Michael lie to Kay instead of just refusing to answer her question
