For patients with ocular surface disorders

What is AmbioDisk?AmbioDisk is a human amniotic membrane graft utilized for the safe and effective treatment of ocular surface diseases and disorders in the office setting.

Clinical applications• Recurrent corneal erosions• Corneal ulcers• Chemical and thermal burns• Neurotrophic ulcers

Why AmbioDisk?4 The Purion® Process

A safe and gentle amniotic membrane dehydration process Ethanol free process

4 Ease of use Patented watermark to identify basement membrane Performed during a brief in-office visit Secured onto a dry cornea with a bandage contact lens

4 Proven effective Over 100,000 eyes treated

4 Patient comfort No tape tarsorrhaphy required Well tolerated, no foreign body sensation

4 Extended shelf life Easily stored for 5 years at room temperature

4 Well reimbursed CPT code: 65778

PURION® PROCESSED AMNIOTIC MEMBRANE

THE PURION® PROCESS

• The gold standard in dehydratedamniotic membrane preservation

• Safely and gently cleans andpreserves the amniotic membrane

• Retains the key elements andgrowth factors associated with themanagement of patientinflammation, pain, and scarringreduction1

• Only AmbioDisk utilizes the Purion®Process

4 Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Plays an important role in the growth, proliferation, and differentiation of numerous cell types.

4 Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (GCSF) Believed to promote wound healing. Stimulates production of granulocytes and monocytes.

4 Interleukin-4 (IL-4) Regulates antibody production, inflammation, and the development of effector T-cells.

4 Interleukin-10 (IL-10) Known to suppress or counteract the effects of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and Tumor Necrosis Factor [TNF] -a). Also suppresses IL-8, a pro-inflammatory chemokine that attracts the migration of neutrophils. Has been shown to suppress MMP-2 and MMP-9, and promote the secretion of TIMP-1. MMPs are elevated in patients with dry eye and have been found in the tears of those patients with recurrent corneal erosions.

4 Transforming Growth Factor β (TGF-β) Amniotic membrane stromal matrix may exert a direct anti-scarring action on fibroblasts by suppressing TGF-β leading to downregulation of scar-forming genes responsible for scar formation. TGF-β is also physiologically relevant in maintaining the normal phenotype of corneal keratocytes.

4 Transforming Growth Factor a (TGF-a) Member of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) family. Has been shown to stimulate cell proliferation.

4 Platelet Derived Growth Factor AA (PDGF-AA)/Platelet Derived Growth Factor BB (PDGF-BB) Have been shown to stimulate collagen, glycosaminoglycan, and collagenase production by fibroblasts, and therefore may play an important role in the initiation of the wound repair process. Attract neutrophils to wound site to remove contaminating bacteria.

4 Tissue Inhibitors of Metalloproteinases (TIMP) May inhibit angiogenesis. Inhibits matrix metalloproteinases which are elevated in patients with dry eye and have been found in the tears of those patients with recurrent corneal erosions.

4 Placental Growth Factor (PIGF) Upregulated during wound healing. Involved in the regulation of angiogenesis. Plays a role in the inflammatory stage of wound healing.
