Dear Readers,Dear Readers,
In continuation of my first submission, I am sharing with continuation of my first submission, I am sharing with
you some thing about knowing self.
In this issue, I am touching this aspect of peep into self
and in the next one, I will forward you the components of
Self awareness.
We, as Individuals, are a bunch of Roles. (We play
approximately 17-18 roles at any point of time).
Success in Roles, depends upon Clarity of Roles, that is to
k n o w c l e a r l y W h a t , W h e n a n d H o w , o f t h e r o l e
performance.
It is not sufficient to be right in your own eyes, it is
necessary to be right in the eyes of others (who assess
us).
For Role success, right role personality is needed, which
is made up of three major components:
Knowledge: "What". (By and large we are knowledgeable
and allow lot of knowledge to pour in, in an auto mode.
Good reception).
Skill: "How" Abilities are acquired by learning, applying
self to the processes and methodologies to perform.
Attitude: "How Well". The willingness to perform at the
best of our skill. Performing at the best in the first chance
is an attitude. Missing opportunities and then craving for
Generally, we are great in terms of knowledge (we know
many things, needed or otherwise), but possess limited
skills.
Even utilization of limited skills sees us through and carry
on in our lives. The comfort zone that we build around us
on the perceived success coming from utilization of
limited Skills, checks us to look beyond.
That is why normally we do not explore attitudinal stances,
and status.
There is a high level of ignorance about the loss we face,
by not paying adequate attention on Attitude in our own
life. (Generally we were never taught about the same).
Role success can only be ascertained on achieving pre-
set goals.
Goals need to be set on SMART basis, based on personal
SWOT, undertaken from time to time.
Realization of personal strengths and tapping opportunities
on the known strengths, accelerates speed in life.
To be continued in next issue...

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain:
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain……….
Life can be termed as successful not when we have
earned a huge amount of wealth, huge popularity and a
wide range of achievements. Success, actually, is when
you have wiped some one's tears and brought smile
onto his face. It is when you have made some one feel
worthwhile of himself. I t is when you have made a
person realize his potential to a great extent thereby
helping him to reap benefits from the same. Realizing
one's potential is not so common. Developing oneself
into a true positive person is also not so easy. But the
strength lies in one understanding the importance of
assertiveness and thereby practicing it.
The six essential qualities for success are: Sincerity,
personal integrity, humility, courtesy, wisdom and
charity.
Success is not when people laugh with you without any
reason…it is also not when they flatter incessantly.
Success, in fact, is:
To laugh often and much.
To win the respect of intelligent people and affection of
children.
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure
the betrayal of false friends.
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others.
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy
child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition.
To know that even one li fe has breathed easier
because you have lived.
We, at GURUKUL, are continuously striving to
he lp people rea l i ze the i r t rue po ten t ia l
thereby making them worthy of reaching
the pinnacle of success in every sphere
of life.
WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY
LEARNING.

Some Glimpses...
Education is a process of living and not a preparation for future living .It
is a progressive discovery of one's own ignorance. Achieving starts with
believing. We are here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a
mountain tree. We are applying all our efforts to become the highest
such mountain and we will strain all our potentials.
The month of July saw us going through successfully with our training
programme SIDDHI a t as many as twelve locat ions. Siddhi is a
programme specially designed to enhance a person's selling skills.
We as salespersons, always try to do different things, rather than doing
things differently: Doing things following a Process. Just follow the
Sales Process- coupled with it, do away with the Fear Factor, believe and
maintain the Relationship Factor, tune into the WII FM always and see
that how sales becomes enjoyable, rewarding and satisfying. This is the
message SIDDHI sends to the partners.
The program basical ly deals in to the sel l ing psychology at the
salesperson's end as well as at the customer's end, 7 KRAs of Sales
Process in detail. It takes the partners through Prospecting process, the
need of a good telecalling script- infact making a script of one's own,
presentation techniques, need analysis in detail, handling objections,
closing techniques application and the importance of referral which is
the life line of sales.
In essence, the program is designed to take the average performing
partners to a greater height of performance and personal achievements.
The overall response to the program is found to be quite encouraging.
Seasoned partners finding out the faults in themselves, understanding
how process can play the greatest role and agreeing to follow the
process is a revelation in itself.
Here is a very nice story about the relationship between the various aspects of
human personality. Read this to understand the interdependence between them and
how losing one of them could lead one to a disaster.
CONFIDENCE AND SELF ESTEEM: Confidence and Self-Esteem were best
friends. They went everywhere together. If Confidence bought a new dress, Self-
Esteem bought one just like it. They were very close.
One day a new kid came to their school. His name was Peer Pressure. He had a
friend called Hateful Words. They decided to give Confidence a hard time.
They constantly teased her. They forced her to do terrible things. It was so terrible
that Confidence lost Self-Esteem. When Self-Esteem wanted to start some classes,
Confidence said they wouldn't be any good.
Then one day, Peer Pressure introduced Confidence to Doubt. He wanted to ruin
Conf idence, but Peer Pressure said he couldn ' t yet . Sel f Esteem couldn ' t
understand what was wrong with Confidence. Confidence now hung around with
Depression, Low Self-Esteem, and Overeating.
These girls were friends of Peer Pressure. Self-Esteem no longer had any friends.
She no longer felt good about herself. She went to see her Imaam. Imaam Good
Words told her how to talk to Confidence. He introduced her to his daughter,
Encouragement.
Encouragement and Self-Esteem went to find Confidence. Self Esteem hoped she
wasn't too late. The girls found Confidence in a stupor. She was no longer a vibrant,
happy young girl. There were dark circles under her eyes. She had gained so much
weight from eating that she couldn't move.
Encouragement gasped and Self-Esteem cried. She begged Encouragement to do
something.
Encouragement began to hug Confidence. She kissed her and loved her. She told
her that she was a beautiful young lady who had a lot going for her.
Encouragement held Confidence so tightly that Self-Esteem thought she would
smother her. Confidence began to cry. As she cried, she seemed to lose weight.
Then a bright light suddenly glowed from Confidence and she began to smile.
Peer Pressure and his friends didn't like what Encouragement was doing and tried
to attack her. They hit at her and pulled at her, but they couldn't pull her away from
Confidence. Then Confidence began to speak.
"Get away from me, Peer Pressure. Take your friends and go. You no longer have
any power over me." Confidence was now a glowing light. She and her friends
made sure that Peer Pressure and his gang never bothered anyone in their town
again.
If you feel that Encouragement is not your friend, then try to find Encouragement in
yourself. Self-Esteem and Confidence will follow.

Dear Reader,
Getting into Financial world
Thanks for accepting “Sparsh”. (It will start touching you shortly).
We aim to make this, a vehicle, to help you in learning.
In addition to other aspects of learning, there is lot to be done on the front of enhancing Financial Literacy.
We will forward series of inputs, giving food for thought, to the reader, to analyze steps needed to be taken to acquire financial literacy.
We will start with basics and project them in an understandable manner.
Normally we focus on areas where we operate to utilize our skills for gains.
That skill utilization helps us in carrying our selves forward, building a career path.
Being in a society advancing in commercial terms, the exchange is very important. (Efforts=> Out-put).
Very few people display Smartness in using the resources at optimum level. (Time and Money).
Astuteness of considering money as a resource and making that resource become self propelled vehicle to a definite destination, (Multiplication to assist owner in strengthening) is not very common.
Why it is so? Do we need to think? Were we ever taught? Do we consider this necessary?
To make this vital subject called Finance, understood by people at large easily, is the challenge that we are accepting.
We will take up basics of Finance and try to unfold them in the manner that enables you to realize the unseen aspects of the same.
Once the realization is successfully created, our task to seek your interest towards input will increase.
Wish you all the best. Keep reading and get prepared to be refreshed with the basics of Finance and Economics for our advantage.

Trainer's Desk...FACING THE ENEMIES FROM WITHIN
We are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Maybe some of our fears are
brought on by our own experiences, by what someone has told us, by what we have read in
the newspapers. Some fears are valid, but once we learn to avoid that situation, we would not
need to live in fear of it.
Fears, even the most basic ones, can destroy our ambitions. Fear can destroy fortunes. Fear
can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can destroy our lives. Fear is one of the
many enemies lurking inside us.
Let me tell you about 5 other enemies we face from within. The First Enemy that we have got
to destroy before it destroys us is Indifference. What a tragic disease this is: The man
says," Hmmm, let it slide, I will just drift along". But here is one problem with drifting: we
cannot drift our way to the top of the mountain.
The Second Enemy we face is Indecision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity and
enterprise. It will steal our chances for a better future. Take a sword to this enemy.
The Third Enemy inside is Doubt. Sure, there is room for healthy skepticism. We cannot
believe everything. But we also cannot let doubt take over. Many people doubt the past,
doubt the future, doubt each other, doubt the possibilities and doubt the opportunities.
Worse of all, they doubt themselves. Let me tell you, doubt will destroy your life and your
chances of success. It will empty both your heart and your bank account. Doubt is an enemy.
Go after it. Get rid of it.
The Fourth Enemy is Worry. We have all got to worry sometime. Just do not let it conquer
you. Instead, let it alarm you. Worry can be useful too. If you stop off the curb and a taxi is
coming, you have got to worry. But you cannot let worry loose like a mad dog that drives you
into a small corner. Here's what you have got to do with your worries; drive them into a small
corner, whatever is out to get you, you have got to get it. Whatever is pushing on you, you
have got to push back
The Fifth Internal Enemy is Over-caution. It is the timid approach to life. Timidity is not a
virtue, in fact it is an illness. If you let it go, it will conquer you. Timid people do not
advance, don't get promoted, and don't grow. You have to get over being over caution.
Do battle with the enemy; do battle with your fears. Build your courage to fight what is
holding you back, what is keeping you from your goals and dreams. Be courageous in your
life and in pursuit of the things you want and the person you want to become

PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Portfolio is an appropriate mix of or collection of investments held by an institution or a
private individual. In other words, it is nothing but a basket of assets depending upon the
institutions/individual's need specification.
The assets in the portfolio could include
Stocks Bonds Options Warrants Futures Commodities
Portfolio Management involves deciding what assets to include in the portfolio, given the
goals of the portfolio owner & changing economic conditions.
It involves: What assets to purchase? How many to purchase?
When to purchase? What assets to divest?
In building up an investment portfolio, a financial institution will conduct its own investment
analysis, while a private individual may make use of the services of a financial advisor or a
financial institution which offers portfolio management services.
In the Mutual Fund industry as well, Portfolio Management plays a vital role for the overall
performance of the fund.
Thus the two most important criteria in Portfolio Management are:
A. Asset Allocation B. Monitor / Review
Asset allocation determines whether the fund is to be invested in Equity or Debt, whether
open-end or closed-end. In short, it relates how the fund is to be diversified in different
instruments/assets. While such allocation is done the financial advisor takes into account the
investor's age, risk tolerance, job security and various other factors.
Moreover Asset Allocation takes into consideration the following:
Performance Risk Return Portfolio of stocks Management Cost
But, all the expertise and allocation will be futile if it lacks continuous and effective
monitoring. The economic conditions and the market are dynamic in nature. The waves of ups
and downs are to be countered efficiently so that the risk is minimized. But then the returns
generated must be in tune with the expected rate of returns. In other words the performance of
the portfolio must be closely reviewed to undertake the necessary modifications.
Thus Portfolio Management helps one to make better decision and improve the probability of
consistently meeting the strategic goals.

Curling up with a book and radio in background with a cup of coffee sounds like my
ideal bedtime activity. I was exposed to books at a very young age. My approach to
reading as a child was quite different than it is today. I enjoyed reading fairy tales
and was highly engrossed in the pictures. Reading is such a passion with me that I
am absolutely certain that nothing else would ever be able to replace it.
The most wonderful thing that reading offers to me is a peep into another world.
When I pick up a book I lose myself into it, whether its enjoying the thrills of reading
John Grisham and Sidney Sheldon and keeping my night lamp burning all night, or
losing to the humour of Chetan Bhagat or being transcended to Kabul in Khaled
Hosseini's "A thousand splendid suns". This temporary escape from the routine life
is of great significance when it comes to mental health. We all have day-to-days
tasks to take care of, and many a times we go to bed all tense and frustrated and
sometimes just downright bored with life. This is when reading comes to our rescue
and we should welcome it with open arms if we truly want to be happy and alive. To
be able to forget our problems, or simply to forget ourselves for sometime, is not
only healthy… it is essential too, if one wants to keep ones sanity intact. Reading
offers us a chance to see the world from someone else's eyes, thus broadening our
horizons and opening our minds to new possibilities. Don't ever forget the words of
Sir Richard Steele, who said, "Reading is to mind what exercise is to body".
I emerge out of this fully refreshed and rejuvenated spirit. The ecstasy of journeying
through the unknown, unimagined and splendid realms of the world and beyond,
cannot be explained in words. It can only be felt and then cherished on later for
times to come. So the next time you feel as if your mental batteries could do with a
recharge, pick up a good book and immerse yourself in it for a good hour or so.
And mind you, this solution comes with a guarantee card.
