FOR THE NORTHEAST REGION: Stephanie & Alan Turner“It was very humbling that Linda decided to choose Alan and I. We’re very proud of thehonor, but it’s still very humbling,” said Stephanie Turner. Before finding AmeriPlan®,Stephanie worked as a bookkeeper. Her son Andrew had just become a toddler when shedecided to join in September 2005. “I was searching for a way to be able to stay at homewith him, quite honestly. AmeriPlan® made that possible, which I’m very thankful andappreciative for.” Stephanie had these reflections on where she and Alan will go fromhere: “When you start the business you start it for your own reasons and your own life.Upon receiving this sort of award, your focus really shifts from your life to your teammembers’ lives. You really want to see them walk the stage for pin level recognitions,income level recognitions; we want to see them applauded for their efforts.”

FOR THE SOUTHEAST REGION: Becky & Kelly Blacka“It’s a very big honor to have been chosen,” said Becky Blacka. She shared thisreminiscence of her first corporate event, a Champions’ Weekend gathering: “They ranout of the ribbons that said ‘IBO.’ I swore to myself I’d never be at another event withouta ribbon.” Sure enough, when 2005’s Convention rolled around she was a Regional SalesDirector. The next year she arrived as a National Sales Director. Originally an officemanager for a painting contractor, Becky thought her sister was making a nuisance ofherself when she responded to Becky’s initial disinterest in AmeriPlan® by driving to herhouse to get her to join. However, she remembers, “When I joined, it didn’t take longbefore I started to catch the vision. I told my kids and my husband I was going to makethis work. I wasn’t going to go back on my word. I was going to do whatever it took.”

FOR THE CENTRAL REGION: Patty & Rusty Duke“To be honest, until the Convention I did not even know there was such a thing” as aRising Star, Patty Duke explained. Since joining in August of last year, she and Rusty havebuilt their business part-time while continuing their careers – he as a sales manager for anaccounting software company, she as a registered nurse and pediatric case manager. “Oneof the keys for me,” says Patty, “is that AmeriPlan® is the most fun I’ve ever had workingat anything. It’s great helping people save money; and when you see some of your teammembers come along and really grasp the concept, that is so rewarding! I’ve never doneanything more rewarding or exciting than this business.” Adds Rusty, “I anticipate we’llreach President’s Club this summer, National Sales Director somewhere in the next threeto four months. Our next big milestone after that will be to work the business full-timeby the end of this year.”

FOR THE WESTERN REGION: Kelly PiraKelly Pira’s first reaction to being chosen as a Rising Star was, “The other people whoreceived awards have been my mentors, people I looked up to so much. To even beconsidered as part of that field was amazing.” Before AmeriPlan®, Kelly was “in thefulfillment end” of the publishing business, “managing databases, auditing, helping peopleto grow their circulation. Like my old job, AmeriPlan® is very people oriented and has agoal of helping others.” After hearing of AmeriPlan®, Kelly searched for a supportiveenroller and was delighted when she found Regina Morris. Kelly wished to thank Reginaand all members of her crossline, upline and downline. But beyond that, “My family’s alsobeen a huge support. My husband comes home, kisses me on the head, cooks dinner andgets the kids to bed, because he knows AmeriPlan® is our future.” “Stay plugged in,” asKelly advises, and it will be your future, too!
