PRESERVING OUR HISTORY PREPARING FOR OUR FUTURE JOYFUL AND WELCOMING Our sanctuary is the heart of our campus and our ministry. It is here that we are reminded of what happens when “two or three are gathered.” Through these renovations, we will preserve our sanctuary for many more years of worship. At the same time, renovating the Undercroft and Elliot Room will create spaces that are welcoming and conducive for a rich and vibrant parish life. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. Matthew 18:20 The goal for the renovation initiative is $2 million. To date, we have raised over $1.25 million, or over 60%. We need your help to ensure that our church is prepared to meet the needs of our current and future parishioners. Please prayerfully consider a special gift in support of the renovation initiative. Together we move with vitality and hope into the future, with the freedom to grow! “Inheritors of a great past, we shall be measured by our ability and willingness to create a great future. Well-equipped, unified, and spiritually responsive, St. Peter’s stands upon the threshold of its greaest opportunity.” - Hulbert A. For 150 years, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has been bringing the joyful word of God to our community. Founded as a mission of Christ Church Cathedral in 1868, our parish has a rich past, filled with stories of faithful Christians who have built a healthy, vibrant parish. We have been blessed with people who have been generous in giving of their time, talent, and treasure to the work of Christ.

St. Peter’s carries forward its commitment to being an ecumenical, welcoming, and joyful parish. In the last five years we have seen significant growth – Sunday attendance has increased 42%, 100 new households have been added, Vacation Bible School has been at capacity, and there has been a 63% growth in annual support. Inspired to share God’s love, we have deepened our efforts to welcome new members and take care of our existing parishioners as well as strengthen our service to the broader community through our outreach programs.

Oh, the majesty and magnificence of his presence! Oh, the power and the splendor of his sanctuary!

OUR PAST

OUR PRESENT

LIFT US TO THE JOY DIVINE

The Vestry approved the development of a long-range plan to build on our rich history and consider the future of St. Peter’s. A Leadership Committee was formed to prayerfully discern the needs of the parish, and the Lift Us to the Joy Divine long-range planning initiative was created.

August 2016

The Lift Us to the Joy Divine long-range planning process was implemented and completed. Through listening sessions, small group discussions, and surveys, the committee was guided by the parish to form six goals:

• Growth in sharing the good news of Christ, and welcoming all to St. Peter’s

• Reimagine how our physical campus can serve our vision

• Deeper participation in parish life

• Greater engagement in meeting the needs of the world, locally and globally

• Developing our stewardship program to support our vision

• Adjusting structures and systems to effectively implement our vision

November-June 2017

The Vestry voted to critically assess all of the goals and objectives, and in particular, to address the physical spaces in preparation for our 150th anniversary year. A Master Plan Committee was assembled and charged with charting a course of action. Three of our most treasured spaces became the focus for immediate attention: the Sanctuary, Undercroft, and Elliot room.
