The adoption of a philosophical system is not usually the result of a long, careful deliberation but rather an spontaneous combination of predisposition with necessity and opportunity, which are either accepted or rejected without using a clear and objective criteria.

The evaluation of these theories is mostly intuitive, utilitarian or emotional. How can we evaluate philosophies? Nobody seems to have found out how to assess their achievements: there doesn’t seem to be any objective or generally accepted judgements. The “affirmative” aspect criticized in this book is manifested in the conviction that ethical theory should not ask directly how-to-be (how to live well, how to be happy, etc.), answering by doing so the most fundamental question about the value of the self-being.

The Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture will fund translations of literary or scienfitic works originally published in Spanish or any other official language

from Spain. This program will be available to foreign publishers. Next call for applications will be between March and April 2018.
