Moist Temperate Forest

Elevation : 5500-8500 feet Temperature: MAT 13 0 C Humidity: 50-70 % MAR: 50-70 inches (1250mm-1750mm) , Topography & Soil: Mostly hilly tract. Typical temperate soil profiles have build up and acidic humus may accumulate to considerable depth. Pinus walichiana (Blue pine), Cedrus deodara (deodar), Abies pindrow (Fir), Picea smithiana (Spruce)

Elevation : 8000-10000 feet Temperature:5-15 0 C MAR: less than 30 inches Topography & Soil: Mostly shallow soil, Rocky and not too developed, Pinus walichiana ( Blue pine), Pinus gerardiana ( Chilgosa), Pinus helipens ( Quetta pine), Juniperous macropoda (Snober)

Sub-tropical Chir Pine Forest

Elevation : 3000-5500 feet Temperature: Max 32 0 C Min 12 0 C , Humidity: 70% & above MAR: 30-50 inches (750mm-1250mm), Topography & Soil: The lower and the outer part of geographical ranges lies on Siwalik rocks maily sandstones and conglomerates. . The soil tends to be light sandy and of only moderate fertility. Much erosion on top. Soil well drained. Pinus roxburghii (Chir pine), Quercus incana (oak, Rin), Berbaris, Rosa mushcata, Carica spinarum

Sub-tropical broad leaved evergreen Forest

Elevation : 1500-3500 feet , Temperature: Max 38 0 C Min 10 0 C , Humidity: 50% and more , Topography & Soil: These forests cover low slopes of the hills generally extending from 1500ft to 3000ft, Soils are usually shallow and dry and may cover the great variety of geological formations from limestone , shales, and quartzite. These forests covers 1,91,000 ha area. Acacia modesta (Phulai) , Olea ferruginea (Kahu), Dedonia vescosa (Sanatha), Pheasants.

Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest

Area: 1,73000 ha Elevation : 20-1200 feet MAR: 30 inches or 750 mm ( vary year to year) MAT: 420C ( 50o C in Summer) Wind : Hot wind blows during April- July each year Spp: Acacia niltotica, (Kikar), Prosopis cineraria (Jhand), Zizyphus mauritiana (Ber) Fauna: Ibex, Lizards, Snakes, Falcons, Hobara Baster etc

Mangrove Forest/Tropical Swamp Forest

Elevation : 10-20 feet. MAT: 35 0 C Humidity: 75% or More Soil: Entirely river borne silt, a very fine mud, being loamy where the water is fresh. and stiff clay where there is saltish water. Area: 207,000ha Arabian sea i-e the coast of Karachi and Pasni in Baluchistan Spp: Casuarina equisetifolia, Avicennia marina 99%, Rhizopora stricta Migratory birds from Russia
