FORM RESEARCH ELLIE MADDISON

MAIN IMAGE The main image is normally a band or artist who will be

appealing with the audience of the magazine. The artist should be of the same genre of music that the magazine is.

For example having Beyoncé on the front page is going to bring monumental viewers as she is one of most iconic POP stars of all time

MASTHEADS The masthead always stands out to the consumers eyes. The masthead should have relations to the music genre,

EG calling a POP magazine ‘music world wide’ isn’t representing a POP magazine because it’s not clear what type of genre it is. So calling it ‘top of the pops’ clearly shows what type of magazine it is.

PULL QUOTE The pull quote is usually a little part of what the page is

about and probably will only cover a couple of lines, but it is the most interesting so having it on the cover pulls in the audience as it’s normally about dating and kissing, this is appealing to reader as they want to find out the gossip.

COLOUR’S The magazine producer would consider the colours based

on gender of the artist, for example men are most likely going to read a magazine if there is a male artist on the front so if they had a male artist they would use dark colours like black and red, and for women they use bright colours like pink and purple.

DATE OF THE ISSUE The date is normally in the top corner and is repeated on

all pages on the same area, this is also with the title of the magazine. This is to ensure the reader know what magazine and what issue they’re reading.

SUB-HEADING A contents page should contain sub-headings. This is so

the reader have a clear indication of what page is what.

COLLOQUIAL LANGUAGE Most POP magazines typography is written in

girly/childish typing this will suit a younger audience as most POP stars are aimed at kids. The typography in this magazine is swirly and girly.

HOW I’M GOING TO SHOW THIS IS MY FINAL DESIGN In my final design I’m not going to show topless men but

having an interesting pull quote suggesting something had happened is how I will pull in a wide range of audience’s.
