D. Update on sector response and coordination in the current hotspots: Banki (DRC/MSF- CH) Pulka (OXFAM), Gwoza (OXFAM), Dikwa(FHi360)

Banki (DRC)

Banki IDP was reported to have 3 solar powered boreholes with 55 latrines and showers. 50 latrines and 30 showers are being constructed DRC with plans to maintain these latrines every two months. The current IDP population was expected to increase up to 44,000, which would further increase the severity of the already poor water conditions. There is a need to both speed up WASH intervention while advocating to the government for controlled influx of refugees returning from Cameroon via Banki by all actors working in Banki and the sector coordination

Pulka (OXFAM)

With about 80,000 IDPs in Pulka, water supply was reported to be less than 10 litres per person per day. However, arrangements with the military is underway to expand the radius of the camp by 2Km, giving room for more IDPs and higher chances for water collection. To be followed-up

Rann: (OXFAM)

With a population of 55,000 IDPs with approximately 3 litres of water per person per day, RUWASSA has mobilized a rig to the site with the hope of improving water supply by drilling boreholes in town. In the meantime, ICRC has supplied a pump to boost supply and MSF is supporting the borehole at the hospital. To be followed-up

On sanitation, 200 latrines and 50 latrines have been completed by OXFAM and UNICEF respectively, to cater for 1 out of 25 IDPs

GWOZA (OXFAM)

The IDP population of Gwoza is 80,000 however, the WaSH situation is comparably better than other LGAs. There are 6 functioning boreholes and OXFAM provides fuel for these boreholes. Although MSF is currently doing water trucking, it has invited willing partners to take-over the water trucking.

DIKWA (FHi360)

88,000 IDPs reside in Dikwa with new arrivals recorded on daily basis. There are 6 agencies intervening in Dikwa and CAID has shown interest there as well. The new camp constructed by IOM will be handed over to CAID. FHI 360 plans to construct 400 latrines in Dikwa while CAID has plans to rehabilitate handpumps within the town.

A new camp (Falfari Camp) is under construction with 2000 shelters.

In Sangaya camp, toilets are being dislodged by ICRC.

Kasaf is another new camp with nothing on ground having a total of 3,500 IDPs and Solidarites International and UNICEF are planning to intervene

Location specific action plan/gap analysis for Dikwa should be updated based on all partners’ inputs
