This dynamic husband-wife team have made an art of their unique strain of fashion photography. This portfolio combines their David Lynch and Hopperesque influences combined with an Americana bubble gum aesthetic.
Vogueis a passionate supporter of their work, as well as cutting edge magazines such as Aesthetica, Ammo, Normal, Wolf and numerous others. Their shows and work are continuously acknowledged in the press and positively reviewed by American Photo, Digital Photo Pro, L’eoil de la Photographie, Spiegel, Juxtapoz, and Art Daily.
Their recent commercial campaigns include Christian Roth Optical, Stephen Knoll, Kosé, Hammitt Los Angeles and Charles of London.
They were nominated top finalist to Vogue’s New Exposure Competition in 2012, working with Bottega Venetta and Red Digital Camera. PhotoVogue singled them out of thousands of candidates two consecutive years. Over the last 3-4 years their work has been acknowledged through a growning number of exhibitions, top gallery representation and internattional artfair exposure. They are represented by Fahey Klein Gallery on the west coast and Robert Klein Gallery in Boston, and their work has been exhibited at London’s Society Club Soho, YK Galleries across Europe,
Edelman Arts, Traffic Art Space and Wonderground Studios in New York.
Their first coffee table book by was published by YK Publishers in 2013, accompanied by a film, which was presented at the Pompidou in Paris. Several books are in the works including one on Japan Diaries and another by Fahey Klein with work from multiple series.
Their work has been presented at Photo Paris, Photo London, Armory, Aipad, Art Miami (Traffic presented an entire booth presentation in 2013 and 2014) and Art Winwood.
BJ Formento was born in Hawaii and grew up in the Philippines. After receiving his BFA in Photography from the Academy of Arts Universtiy of California, he moved to New York and assisted Richard Avedon, Mary Ellen Mark, and Annie Leibovitz, and studied with Eugene Richards and Arnold Newman. Since 2001, he has shot for a host of publications and advertising clients while continuing his personal work. Richeille Formento was born in London and attended the prestigious Central St. Martins College of Art before working as an art director and designer in the fashion industry.
