In our film Deadly Love, I have chosen to use a variety of camera shots such ad close up’s that I have used to see reactions on our actor’s and actresses’ face. This is the shot that shows the most emotion from the characters. It is also used to capture detail in an important scene.

One of the most famous close ups in horror movies was the one from the film “The Ring” where you can see revenge the creepy eyes of this ghost called Samara and we wanted to recreate a similar close up to that one.

Long Shots & POVs - Tracking

I have also chosen to use a few pov shots so that the audience can become emotionally attached and more scared. Also a tracking shot to make out a character is being followed.

I have used a long at the beginning of the park scene; this is a great scene to use to establish horror movies. This shot I have used put into perspective how deserted and scary the park is.

A famous pov shot was the shark in jaws, so I wanted to replicate in some ways the same shot in our movie

High Angles and Cutaways

I have chosen to use a few high angles as well, these are used in horrors to make the figure that is being looked down on seem completely powerless and vulnerable.

A nice high angle shot I wanted to recreate in some type of way was the high angle from Shadow of a Doubt, but unfortunately due to lack of any high quality equipment I couldn’t replicate it.

I have also included a cutaway in place of special effects as we couldn’t afford to injure anybody at the moment of the attacks.

Sound

The sound choice for our movie Deadly Love was natural and very easy. As soon as we heard the scary suspenseful and creepy sounds of The Threat we decided that this was the perfect music to use.

I wanted to use a great theme song with dreadful low notes and terrifyingly minimal composition like the Halloween one.

Challenges to the Genre

In order to produce a horror movie, we have considered a few factors as to make it fit into the genre. We tried to create tension created through mystery, suspense, gore, terror, or shock. This was a pretty straight forward elements of horror, and I think we showed it nicely.

Then, in order for a horror film to be seen, it captures the universal fear of things like death and so we did.

What we’ve struggled with is the Unrealism. Trying to make the action realistic was the hard bit as we don’t have the appropriate equipment to do high quality movies.
