¿QUÉ SIGNIFICA SER?
• Ser means “to be.”
• This can be confusing sometimes because of estar, but we will worry about that later. Right now let’s focus on ser.
¿QUÉ SON LAS FORMAS DE SER?
• The different forms of ser are as follows:

¿CÓMO PUEDO USAR SER?
• You need to use ser when you are describing permanent characteristics about someone or something.
• For example:
• Él es un doctor. (He is a doctor.)
• Ella es lista. (She is smart.)
¿QUÉ NECESITO SABER PARA USAR SER?
• Adjectives that describe someone such as:
• Listo/a
• Inteligente
• Ordenado/a
• Hermoso/a
• Bello/a
• Feo/a
• Guapo/a
• Professions are also a good thing to know to use with ser.• Doctor-/a• Profesor/a• Maestro/a• Dentista• Escritor/a• Estudiante• Presidente
EL ORIGIN DE UNA PERSONA
• Another use of ser that falls under its “permanent” umbrella is where someone is from originally.
• In English we might ask, “Where are you from originally?”
• In Spanish we only have to ask, “¿De dónde eres/es?”
• You can respond, “Soy de…”
• Or if someone is asking about someone else you can answer, “Él/Ella es de…”

• More literally, “Which date is it?”
Es el 22 de Agosto.• “It is the 22 of August.”
• The only time that you DO NOT use the numbers for the days is if it is the first of the month.
• You WILL THEN USE PRIMERO instead of a number.
