We are a community that always bands together to support each other during tough times. Today we held a gold coin donation day to support our local firefighters, thank you for your kind donations. We fundraised a total of $675. Students have been busy writing letters, drawing pictures and making cards. Hopefully this brightens their day and shows our appreciation for all of the hard work they have done to keep us safe. Last Friday we held the colour run, what a fun day for all! A big shout out to Angela Coffey, Samantha Simmons, the P&C and all the other staff for organising the event. A huge shout out to all of the families and friends who came and supported on the day or helped fundraise for the event. It was wonderful seeing so many people come and join the festivities. There were many smiles, much laughter and a whole big colourful school! So far we have nearly fundraised $17 000. What a mammoth effort! 60% of these funds will come back into the school, supporting the cost of repairing playground equipment. This semester we have trialled a new company- Red Gum, for our Book Club and Book Fair. Previously we have used the company- Scholastic. A little survey will be sent home shortly asking you if you have a preference and any suggestions or thoughts on which direction we choose to go next year. Have a wonderful weekend! Term 4 Week 4 - Our focus for the coming week’s PBL lesson:
My name is Karyn Pol and I have been a teacher at Forster Public for two years. I love working here and having been teaching Year I. They are so cute and make me smile everyday! I am a proud Wiradjuri/ Ngemba woman and I have been lucky enough to have grown up on beautiful Worimi land. My husband Ian and I have raised two daughters, Jordyn and Gemma and we love the lifestyle that Forster provides. We are often at the beach having picnics and going fishing. My favourite colour is aqua blue as it is very calming and reminds me of the ocean. I love being a teacher and my passion is Aboriginal Education.

Terracycle Colgate Community Garden Challenge
Thanks to everyone in our community who donated to the Terracycle Colgate dental waste program by sending in their used toothbrushes, toothpaste containers and dental hygiene packaging. Unfortunately Forster Primary School did not win, but we did collect over 4000 pieces of rubbish that would’ve otherwise ended up in landfill. We converted our collected waste items into $60.00, which was donated to the Take 3 For The Sea initiative. We will continue to collect your used dental hygiene items and packaging, so please keep sending in and add to the collection box in the front office.
Class News – Early Stage 1 The Kindergarten students have been really busy working in their rooms and playing in the playground, being in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. We are so proud of them. We have had extra Pre-Service teachers on K22 and K23 before the holidays. Lucky us!!
K22 performed for the residents of Kularoo Gardens, who enjoyed it greatly. What a wonderful community event. The Kindergarten Teachers were excited to have transition visits from local preschools last week. A great time was had by all. We had many great Kindergarten helpers. Last Friday we enjoyed the Colour Run Event in which money is still being raised to fund the maintenance and upgrade to playground equipment, commencing next week.
It’s going to be exciting to start learning our end of year concert items soon too. Our Forster Public School is so much fun and an excellent place to learn and to make friends.
On Wednesday this week, Years 5 & 6 were visited by three elite local athletes: Ty Judson, a world ranking stand-up paddleboarder; Mel Bartz, a world ranking surfer; and Kylie Hilder, an NRL touch football and rugby league player who has represented Australia. These speakers were extremely good and well prepared. They broke down the importance of goal setting and time management into bite-size pieces of information the children could understand, relating each to their own lives, careers and aspirations. The children were completely rapt and more than a little inspired.
