Regarding the Shelby Meet in June, I have to say thank you once again to everyone who took their valuable time to make us GCCM proud. I know there were several who wanted to help… thank you. Please give the following folks a pat on the back and/or hand shake the next time you see them. On behalf of your officers and board, we say thanks to… Will Roy, Alan Stretsky, Allen King, Art & Paula Frerichs, Billy Jenkins, Brad Long, Carolyn Loy, Corky Bradford, Damon Boggs, Daniel & Lori Place, David Newby, Dayna Griesinger, Dee King, Don Radar, Donnie Moseby, Frank Chrisco, John Brawley, Johnny Watt, Ken Calvert, Kirk Clinkscales, Larry Hall, Leland Hollis, Linda Hollis, Lonnie Iannazzo, Mac & Leta Arnett, Mark Har- wood, Mark Hebenstreit, Melvin Little, Mike Bean, Rhonda Huber and children three, Roger Bymun, Ron Watkins, Scott Grant, Steve Armstrong, Steve Hen- drix, Steve Young, Troy Rushing, Wendell Jones, Will Huber, Earl & Cindy Hil- lard. We had approximately 200 cars to park and judge yesterday with just over 50 volunteers on a beautiful Father's Day. Believe it or not… that was not enough volunteers. Ten to 15 more would have been much better. Parking is always a challenge when spaces are not available for the specific class and they have to park in the designated overflow areas. This makes it a chal- lenge for the judges to locate these cars… especially when they, participants, decide to park in other class areas rather than the overflow. Something we can improve if we take over the registration process. We had two parker shifts… each shift was 90 minutes in duration. Please note several parkers worked both shifts and many of these volunteers came to serve without showing their cars. That’s GCCM com- mitment and dedication. Hope to see the same and more for our own show in September. Mustangs Rule!! CAR SHOW AND BRANSON BELLE AUGUST 14th & 15th

Those of you going to the Springfield Car show August 14th and 15th may be interested in another little adventure Ron Watkins and I have in the making. In 2013 a few of our members attended the Branson Belle show and dinner cruise on Table Rock Lake for less than the cost of most Branson music shows. I contacted our friend Camron Hanson sales representative who remembered our group from 2013. After a few friendly negotiations we agreed on $48.36 (tax included) per person. After checking several motel rates I contacted Wes Stoner sales manager for Best Western Inns and Suites. Again after friendly negoti-ations we came up with his manager special of $66.00 regular rate is $119.00. This price is per night and includes a full hot breakfast buffet next door at Montana Mikes Steak House. We will be staying Best Western Center Pointe Inn and Suite located between the Titanic and Montana Mikes on the 76th strip. I have 20 rooms blocked for Friday the 14th and Saturday 15th. If you plan on going to the car show check with Ron for reservations in Springfield for Friday night the 14th. For the dinner cruise and Best Western Friday or Saturday night e-mail or call Cindy or I. For the Branson Cruise plans are for a group to go up on Friday and another Saturday morning both times meeting at QT located at I-44 and 161st. Time leaving will be announced later. Our members who attend the car show will meet up with the Branson group after the show. Do some shopping, etc. and then at 8:00pm a great 3 course dinner and top rate stage show while floating (I hope) on beautiful Table Rock Lake. The dinner menu will consist of Ice Berg Romine Salad, Sweet onion dressing topped with homemade croutons, hot butter dinner rolls, slow simmered beef roast, honey glazed chicken, garlic potatoes, sugar snap peas with julienne carrots, and for dessert a brittle lemon- ber-ry torte dripped with caramel. This three course dinner elsewhere for two would cost more than the din-ner and show on the Branson Belle. We need to be at the Branson Belle by 6:00pm. Each one will pick up their ticket at the ticket office at that time. Best for last. One of our group will receive a free dinner and show so with all of this and spending a week-end with our GCCM Family what other decision is there except come along you will be glad you did and so will Ron and I. Last year, the Granado’s and the Hollis’s went to Sturgis Mustang Rally and came back all revved

up to go again this year. Therefore, Linda Hollis and I, Jerry Bush, are making all the plans to

get as many from this area to go with us for the 2015 Rally, Sept. 1-6. This is a big event, so

NOW is the time to get reservations in Sturgis and get signed up. You will also need reservations

in Mitchell, SD, which is our one evening stop on Sept. 1. We are currently working on the de-

tails. Our Facebook page has information about motels and the Sturgis Rally web site has all the

information about registration and events.

http://www.sturgismustangrally.com/ is the web site for the Rally and

https://www.facebook.com/events/584395991705748/ is our Facebook page.

Because some Ponies will be leaving Sept. 1 from Joplin and maybe some leaving from Tulsa,

the thought at the present time, is to meet up in Kansas City. Please consider this show for one

of your big trips of the year. There are lots of sights to see, such as Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse

Monument, Drive to Deadwood, events and racing at the Thunderdome, Poker run through the

Black Hills of SD., the car show, a Banquet Dinner, and much more.

Check out the web sites or contact Jerry Bush or Linda Hollis.

The 10 Most Iconic Mustangs of All Time Source: About.com

1. The Boss 302 Mustang When it comes to automotive icons, 1969 and 1970 Boss 302 Mustangs rank high on the list. The car, which was designed by Larry Shinoda, a former GM employee, featured a 302 cubic inch V8 engine, a blackout hood, front spoiler, and rear deck wing. The 1970 model featured the ever so popular “hockey stick” stripes, and a Hurst shifter. The car was so popular Ford brought it back for the 2012-2013 model years. 2. The Boss 429 As with the Boss 302 Mustang, the Boss 429 was a legend in its own time. The car, which is considered to be one of the rarest classic Muscle cars out there, was produced from 1969-1970. In all, only 859 originals Boss 429 Mustangs were ever created. Ford created 499 Boss 429 Mustangs for the 1970 model year. The Boss 429 was easily identifiable with its large factory hood scoop covering up its 429 cubic inch 7.0L Semi-Hemi V8 Boss. 3. Shelby GT350 Carroll Shelby’s first performance Mustang was the 1965 Shelby GT350. No doubt, the car is one of the most identifiable perfor-mance Mustangs of all time. The original 1965 year cars all featured Wimbledon White exteriors with Guardsman Blue rocker stripes. They were powered by a K-Code 289 cubic inch 4.7L engine producing an estimated 271 horsepower. Original Shelby GT350 production continued until 1968. Shelby American brought the GT350 Mustang back in 2011. 4. 1966 Shelby GT350H “Rent-A-Racer” Who would have thought that Hertz Rent-A-Car would rent out Shelby GT350 Mustangs? Well, they did, back in 1966, and yes, it was pretty cool. For around $17 a day, and 17 cents a mile, you could get behind the wheel of a 306 horsepower Shelby Mus-tang. As you can imagine, these cars, which were later sold off by Hertz, are now highly sought after by collectors. In 2006 Hertz returned to renting Shelby Mustangs with their 2006 Shelby GT-H Mustang. 5. Mach 1 Mustang Ford’s Mach 1 Mustang, designed for all out performance, first appeared back in August 1968 as a 1969 model year package. Numerous engine options were available, including the ever popular 428 cubic inch 7.0L Super Cobra Jet. Production of the package continued through 1978. The 1971 model featured a fresh look, including a two-tone paint scheme, and a NACA (NASA) hood with dual scoops. The Mach 1 package returned to the Ford lineup in 2003 and 2004. 6. Shelby GT500 In keeping with the tradition of Shelby Performance, the Shelby GT500 Mustang is one iconic ride. First appearing in 1967, the original GT500 featured a 428 cubic inch V8 engine. In addition, the car sported fiberglass body pieces, high-beam lamps in the center of the grille, and twin “Le Mans” stripes. The car returned to the Shelby lineup in 2007. 7. 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Shelby’s “King of the Road” Mustang was one serious piece of automotive machinery. With its 428 Cobra Jet engine option, featuring Ram Air Induction, it was one powerful pony. In addition to power, the car featured a traction-lock 3.50 rear end as standard equipment, and was available in coupe or convertible versions. 8. Bullitt Ford's Mustang has been in many movies. The 1968 Warner Bros. film “Bullitt” featured a 1968 GT 390 Ford Mustang chasing a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T down the streets of San Francisco in, what many believe to be, the best car chase scene of all time. The car, which sported a Highland Green exterior, was void of any Ford badging or emblems. Ford created a special-edition Bullitt Mustang for the 2001 model year. It was so popular the company brought it back for the 2008 and 2009 model years. 9. 1964 ½ Ford Mustang There’s something special about the firsts. First loves, first glances, first model years. The 1964 ½ Ford Mustang is no excep-tion. The car, which first debuted on April 17, 1964, is still going strong some 50 years later. “1964 ½ Mustangs”, as they’re coined, were produced between March 9th and July 31st of 1964. These cars feature unique characteristics that set them apart from those produced after July 31st, 1964. 10. 2000 Cobra R Mustang Back in 2000, Ford’s Special Vehicle Engineering Manager, John Coletti, had a dream. The end result was The 2000 Cobra R Mustang, a naturally aspirated 5.4L V8 powered Mustang capable of producing 385 horsepower and 385 lbs·ft. of torque. It had a top speed of 175.3 mph and could do the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds. No doubt, it was one fast ride. In all, only 300 were produced.
