Founded in 1975, Road Scholar is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to inspire adults to learn, discover and travel. Our learning adventures engage expert instructors, provide extraordinary access, and stimulate discourse and friendship among people for whom learning is the journey of a lifetime. About Road Scholar Programs A Road Scholar program is a true learning adventure. Each year, we offer 5,500 iconic educational adventures in 50 states and 150 countries around the world. Road Scholar Caregiver Grants and Scholarships: Financial Assistance for Road Scholar Learning Adventures At Road Scholar, we believe educational travel should be accessible to all older adults — no matter one’s economic status. Since our earliest days, we have offered financial assistance to those participants who have the desire to learn, but not the means to take part in our enriching educational programs. Road Scholar awards hundreds of scholarships to enthusiastic lifelong learners every year. Road Scholar offers two types of financial assistance: Scholarships and Caregiver Grants. Scholarships Scholarships are awarded to lifelong learners without the financial means to participate in our learning adventures. Scholarships help make the dream of an educational travel adventure a reality. They also enhance the program experience for all participants by welcoming individuals with diverse life perspectives to fully participate in our learning communities. Caregiver Grants We at Road Scholar acknowledge the weighty responsibility adults who serve as family caregivers for ill or disabled relatives carry. The warm, welcoming and friendly nature of our learning adventures can provide a much-needed respite from the emotional and physical demands inherent in caregiver service. We’re committed to helping offset the costs of arranging substitute care for caregivers to attend a Road Scholar learning adventure. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we are able to do just that by awarding Caregiver Grants. What You Need to Know About Our Financial Assistance Program • Scholarships and Grants are valid for programs in the United States. • Caregiver Grants provide an award of up to $1,300 and Scholarship awards range from $200 to $900. Both can be used on an eligible Road Scholar program that does not exceed $1,400. • Scholarship and Grant recipients must be at least 50 years of age and live in the United States.
