Social distancing practices are the changes in behaviour that can help stop the spread of Coronavirus infections. Social distancing is not the same as self-quarantine or isolation, two other practices being utilized to minimize the coronavirus spread. The key difference is that a quarantine or isolation restricts the movement of people within a certain area or zone to limit transferring and spreading an infection. Measures like social distancing can help communities achieve that second line - a slower growth in the number of cases - so that they have more time and resources to care for all the sick patients. While social distancing may seem like a drastic step to take, it's just a precautionary measure. The most obvious way to practice social distancing is to avoid crowded public places where close contact with others may occur. These might include movie theaters, religious gatherings, birthday & wedding ceremonies and crowded restaurants. Social distancing is practicing putting physical distance between yourself and others at least 6 feet and staying home when you can. The response to the COVID - 19 pandemic is infiltrating every aspect of life, and we're already longing for it to end. As an individual, one can lower the risk of infection by reducing the rate of contact with other people. Avoiding public spaces and unnecessary social gatherings, especially events with large numbers of people or crowds, will lower the chance that a person will be exposed to the new coronavirus as well as to other infectious diseases like flu. Social distancing accepts or acknowledges that the coronavirus is likely widespread, community transmission is already occurring and the number of diagnosed cases is going to rise as more people receive testing. Social distancing is a societal effort to contain transmission. It is recommended to separate yourself from people you live with as much as possible. Governments around the world are responding to the COVID -19 pandemic, and social distancing is a central aspect of plans to limit the spread of the virus. Public health experts believe social distancing is the best way to prevent a Coronavirus. Social distancing can reduce virus transmission from infected persons to susceptible individuals by increasing physical distance between people or reducing frequency of congregation in socially dense community settings, such as schools or workplaces. The best way to prevent "community spread" is to spread out the community. It is widely viewed as an effective behavior and something that anyone and everyone should practice. Until a vaccine or even an effective treatment can be developed, the best hope for protecting ourselves is slowing the spread of the disease by practicing "Social distancing". We must understand that the measures are aimed at trying to cut down the amount of virus spreading around, and ultimately protect those most vulnerable, including the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. It is also to be remembered that while social distancing may be an important factor in preventing the spread of coronavirus, practicing good hygiene and taking other safety precautions may also be important steps in preventing the spread. There is no doubt that the spread can be slowed down, if people practice social distancing by avoiding public spaces and generally limiting their movement. Let us remember that to stop the spread of the coronavirus, social distancing is becoming the new normal, at least for a few weeks. Let we, the individuals reduce our contact with one another as people will be less likely to pass the virus on. Vajubhai Vala plans to unite Rajput sub-castes with Mata temple Rajkot: Former Karnataka governor and BJP veteran Vajubhai Vala, who is recuperating after a cataract surgery in Rajkot is reviving his old plans to build a temple of Bhavani Maa in Surendranagar district. In Saurashtra region, temples play a huge role in uniting the community. Vala’s temple exercise is also aimed at uniting all sub- castes of Rajputs, much in the lines of Patidars and Kolis. Patidar’s Khodaldham and Umita temple remain at the focal point for all political parties. The two communities had recently flexed their muscles in an attempt to negotiate with political parties for the 2022 Gujarat assembly election. Vala, who hails from the Karadiya Rajput community had floated the the temple idea in 2013. Bhavani Maa is the reigning deity of all the Rajput families. However, nothing moved on the ground while Vala kept his propaganda alive in every election. Kodinar, Talala and Somnath are three assembly constituencies where Karadiyas are in majority. Karadiya Rajputs are a significant vote bank in Botad, Talaja, Sihor, Limdi, Sayla, Dhandhuka and Sanand too. A few leaders of the Karadiya community held a meeting with Vala last week at the latter’s residence in Rajkot. “Nearly six leaders of Surendrangar and Dhandhuka went to meet Vajubhai at his residence. The main agenda was to build a temple. Vajubhai asked us to clean the space and said he will hold a meeting with the leaders of all sub- castes to concretize a plan for the temple,” said Kanbha Rajoda, a community leader. BJP leader Jasha Barad, a leader of the Rajput community too, said, “We are planning to meet Vajubhai on Saturday for the temple. The objective of the temple is to unite all our people so that we can have our say in politics.” The Karadiya community is considering to place candidates by both the parties on all the three seats of Kodinar, Talala and Somnath that have gone to the Congress in the 2017 elections. Earlier, the temple was planned to be constructed near Chotila, but now they have identified a place between Sayla and Limdi in Surendranagar district. Raibha Rathod, who is actively involved in the project said, “We have nearly 25 acres parcel which was recently converted into non agricultural land. We are also in talks to buy another 10 acres. All sub-castes of Rajput of Gujarat are collectively building this temple.” Four held with 37kg cannabis in Gujarat's Dhrol RAJKOT: The Special Operations Group (SOG) and Dhrol police in Jamnagar carried out a raid and arrested four persons with 37 kg cannabis (marijuana) worth Rs 3.69 lakh on Tuesday night. The cops also seized a car, a truck, four mobile phones besides the contraband from the accused. Those arrested were identified as Anirudhsinh Jadeja (27), the owner of the truck and resident of Jodiya town in Jamnagar; James Jacob Christian (45), the truck cleaner; Shahrukh Hasmani and Javed Kasam Jam. According to police, Jadeja and Christian had brought the cannabis from Odisha which was to be delivered to Shahrukh, Javed, Ajay and Nawab at Vankia village near Dhrol town on Tuesday night. On Tuesday night, SOG and Dhrol police raided Vankia village when Shahrukh and Javed came to take delivery of 27 kg cannabis from the truck which was driven by Anirudhsinh Jadeja. The police arrested Shahrukh, Javed along with Jadeja and Christian and seized the drugs. They also searched Shahrukh's house where they found 10 kg marijuana. “Ajay, a resident of Jogvad village in Lalpur taluka of Jamnagar and Nawab are on the run. As they could not reach the delivery place on time they could not be nabbed,” said police. Wild Rhesus macaque’s antics inside zoo adds to attraction Ahmedabad : Sayajibaug zoo inmates have been at the receiving end of a mischievous little primate’s pranks, much to the visitors’ delight. Nobody knows how the tiny Rhesus macaque migrated to the zoo, but the monkey has happily adopted it as its home. He seemed to have bonded well with the wild animals there as well, as none of the other species seem very annoyed as he flits in and out of their cages. “It was seen for the first time about two months ago. The macaque initially spent some time on the trees and then began going around the zoo. It hops around in the wild animals’ enclosures fearlessly,” said Pratyush Patankar, zoo curator. It is often seen monkeying around the enclosure of the leopards and teasing the big cat. “We tried to capture it with the help of forest officials but our attempts didn’t succeed,” Patankar added. The five-year-old macaque also gets into a fight with the primates kept in the zoo cages. “We have 11 Rhesus macaques in enclosures and this wild one often gets into fights particularly with the male monkeys,” Patankar said. The fights are sometimes fierce and the zoo staff have to intervene and shoo it away. It feeds on the fruits and any food is available in and around the zoo. This monkey is usually not seen in the urban areas of Vadodara that is dominated by the langoors. An intelligent primate, Rhesus macaques usually live in groups. “But we had got complaints from the airport authorities some time ago that some Rhesus macaques ventured on the runway,” Patankar said. The Rhesus macaque usually feeds on fruits, roots, herbs but in urban areas it also gobbles up any food available. IT student held for looting car to elope SURAT: A 19-year-old first year student of diploma engineering in Information and Technology was arrested by the police on Wednesday for allegedly looting a car from Vesu area of city. The accused was caught along with his girlfriend by the detection of crime branch (DCB) sleuths who also recovered the looted vehicle near Boriyach toll plaza of Navsari. Police arrested Kashyap Bhesaniya, a resident of Puna area, while his girlfriend was allowed to go as she was not part of the loot plan. Police recovered Rs 2.26 lakh in cash from the car. Bhesaniya told the police that he was planning to settle down in Kanpur with his girlfriend and so, he looted the car. Complainant in the case, Manoj Jain had gone to buy medicines at Aagam Arcade in Vesu. He had parked the car on the road, while his 77- year-old father, Kapurchand Jain, was sitting inside the car. Suddenly, Bhesaniya opened the door of the car and sat in the driver’s seat. He told Kapurchand to get down. However, when the elderly man refused and put the vehicle in gear to prevent loot, Bhesaniya started driving the car. Fearing that he will be kidnapped, Kapurchand got out from the moving car and in the process suffered injuries. Later, the accused picked up his girlfriend from a distance and the duo went towards Navsari on national highway 48. Police had kept a watch on the highways and the car was stopped at Boriyach toll plaza. “Bhesaniya wanted to get married with his classmate, but their families were not agreeing looking at their young age. They are from the same caste and family members told them to complete studies before settling down,” said a crime branch officer. The duo had developed friendship a few months ago. Bhesaniya, son of a diamond artisan, invested in stocks, said cops. Body found from Makarpura Ahmedabad : An unidentified male body was found from Makarpura GIDC on Thursday morning. Passers-by spotted the body near a public bench following which they informed the police. Manjalpur cops reached the spot and took the body to SSG Hospital for post- mortem. Locals said that some country-made liquor pouches were found near the body. Cops have started inquiring if anyone in the busy Makarpura-GIDC area knows or had seen the man in the area in the past few days. The cause of death will be ascertained only after the PM report, said cops, who filed a case of accidental death at Manjalpur police station.

The accusedwas caught along with hisgirlfriend by the detection ofcrime branch (DCB) sleuthswho also recovered the lootedvehicle near Boriyach tollplaza of Navsari. Policearrested Kashyap Bhesaniya,a resident of Puna area, whilehis girlfriend was allowed togo as she was not part of theloot plan. Police recovered Rs2.26 lakh in cash from the car.
Bhesaniya told the policethat he was planning to settle
down in Kanpur with hisgirlfriend and so, he looted thecar. Complainant in the case,Manoj Jain had gone to buymedicines at Aagam Arcade inVesu. He had parked the caron the road, while his 77-year-old father, KapurchandJain, was sitting inside the car.Suddenly, Bhesaniya openedthe door of the car and sat inthe driver’s seat. He toldKapurchand to get down.However, when the elderlyman refused and put thevehicle in gear to prevent loot,Bhesaniya started driving thecar. Fearing that he will bekidnapped, Kapurchand gotout from the moving car andin the process suffered
injuries. Later, the accusedpicked up his girlfriend from adistance and the duo wenttowards Navsari on nationalhighway 48. Police had kept awatch on the highways andthe car was stopped atBoriyach toll plaza.
“Bhesaniya wanted to getmarried with his classmate,but their families were notagreeing looking at their youngage. They are from the samecaste and family members toldthem to complete studiesbefore settling down,” said acrime branch officer. The duohad developed friendship afew months ago. Bhesaniya,son of a diamond artisan,invested in stocks, said cops.
Body foundfrom Makarpura
Ahmedabad : Anunidentified male body wasfound from Makarpura GIDCon Thursday morning.Passers-by spotted the bodynear a public bench followingwhich they informed thepolice. Manjalpur copsreached the spot and took thebody to SSG Hospital for post-mortem. Locals said thatsome country-made liquorpouches were found near thebody. Cops have startedinquiring if anyone in the busyMakarpura-GIDC area knowsor had seen the man in thearea in the past few days.
The cause of death willbe ascertained only after thePM report, said cops, whofiled a case of accidentaldeath at Manjalpur policestation.
