My dear parishioners, It was a joy to see forty people attend our first public daily Mass on Monday, June 29th. There were many familiar faces and a few new ones, although sometimes it was hard to tell who was who with the masks. Tuesday saw about thirty with some different faces as well. The reception of Holy Communion went well. I will explain how we are doing Holy Commun-ion at all the Masses. You will notice a lot of changes with the cele-bration of the Mass. There will be no entrance proces-sion from the back. I will only enter and return from the sacristy. There will still be no altar servers. Alt-hough we can have music, we will not have choirs for a while. There will be no “bringing up of the gifts.” There will be no regular collection, meaning the ushers will not be using baskets to collect your offering. I ask that you place your envelopes or offerings in collection boxes that will be in the main aisle. You can place your offering either when you enter church or when you come up for communion. Electronic giving would be awesome as well. Many parishioners have started and have made it a regular way of donating. I have it set up for a monthly donation on my credit card. For now, there will be no lighting of the candles by the saints. Unfortunately, there will be no hymnals or missalettes. There will be no bulletins to hand out. You will still receive the bulletin via email and also can view it on the parish website. There will be no exchange of the sign of peace, no greeting of people after Mass and no distribution of the Precious Blood. What will we have? JESUS!!! You will be able to receive Jesus, in His Body and Blood. “But wait Fa-ther, you said there was no distribution of the Precious Blood.” That is true, but as Catholics we believe that each consecrated host contains Jesus’s Body and Blood. I was moved this past Monday when so many of your fellow parishioners were crying as they received Holy Communion, most of them for the first time in over three months. It was hard for me not to cry as well, to see the deep faith of those who love Jesus and longed for Him. I look forward to seeing more of you this com-ing weekend and to give you Jesus. If you are not able to receive, you can still make a spiritual communion. “Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceed-ing joy; and I will praise thee with the lyre, O God, my God.” (Psalm 43:4) God bless,

Mis queridos feligreses, Fue una alegría ver cuarenta personas asistir a nuestra primera Misa diaria pública el lunes 29 de junio. Hubo muchas caras conocidas y varias nuevas, aunque a veces era difícil saber quién era quién con las mascari-llas. El martes vi cerca de treinta con algunas caras dife-rentes también. La Sagrada Comunión fue bien. Les ex-plicaré como estamos haciendo la Sagrada Comunión en todas las Misas. Ustedes verán muchos cambios en la celebración de la Misa. No habrá procesión de entrada. Yo solamente entraré y saldré por la sacristía. No habrá todavía mona-guillos. Aunque podemos tener música, no tendremos los coros por un tiempo. No habrá “llevando las ofren-das.” No habrá colecta regular, lo que quiere decir que los ujieres no estarán usando las canastas para colectar su ofrenda. Les pido que coloquen sus sobres u ofrenda en cajas de colecta que estarán en el pasillo principal. Ustedes pueden colocar su ofrenda ya sea cuando entre a la iglesia o cuando vayan para la comunión. Dando elec-trónicamente será maravilloso también. Muchos feligre-ses han comenzado y lo han hecho una forma regular de donar. Yo he establecido una donación mensual en mi tarjeta de crédito. Por ahora, no se podrán prender las velas a los santos. Desafortunadamente, no habrá libros de cantos o misales. No habrá boletines para repartir. Ustedes todavía recibirán el boletín vía correo electróni-co y también lo pueden ver en el sitio web de la parro-quia. No habrá intercambio del signo de la paz, no habrá saludos a la gente después de la Misa y no habrá distri-bución de la Preciosísima Sangre. ¿Qué tendremos? ¡¡¡JESÚS!!! Me conmovió el lunes pasado cuando muchos de sus compañeros feligreses estaban llorando cuando recibieron la Sagrada Comunión, mu-chos de ellos por primera vez en más de tres meses. Fue difícil para mí no llorar también, al ver la profunda fe de aquellos quienes aman a Jesús y lo anhelan. Espero ver a más de ustedes este fin de semana que viene y darles a Jesús. Si ustedes no pueden recibir, pueden todavía hacer una comunión espiritual. “Llegaré entonces a tu altar, oh Dios, y allí te alabaré al son del arpa, pues tú, mi Dios, llenas mi vida de ale-gría.” (Salmo 43,4) Que Dios les bendiga,

Notice from our Pastor

As of Monday, June 22, 2020, the parish office is opened from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday only.

When entering the office, you will only be permitted to stand at the window by the office. Please wear a mask at that time.

Public weekday Mass will begin again on Monday, June 29 with the 8:30 am Mass.

Public Sunday Mass will begin on Saturday, July 4th at 5 pm and with Sunday, July 5th at 10 am in English and 12 noon in Spanish.

No more than 175 people are permitted in church at a time due to the 25% capacity restriction. If we go over 175, the parish room will be open for televising of the Mass and communion will be brought to you after Mass. This will probably only ap-ply to the Spanish Mass.

If you do not feel well, do not come to Mass. If you are still nervous about coming out in public, it is okay to stay home. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been lifted and re-mains in effect until further notice.

When coming to church, please make sure that you wear a mask and please sanitize your hands while entering.

Please enter through the main doors of the church. You may exit out any of the other doors after Mass. Please follow the instructions of the ushers as this is to protect us all.

Confessions will be available on Friday, June 26 and Friday, July 3 from 1 pm until 6 pm in the sacristy of the church.

St. Maria Goretti St. Maria Goretti was born October 16, 1890. She is an Italian virgin-martyr of the Church, and one of the youngest saints to be canonized. Her father died when she was nine, and they have to share the house with another family, the Serenellis. One afternoon, Ales-sandro Serenelli, twenty years old, made sexual ad-vances to her. She was stabbed to death, preferring to die than to be raped; with her mother present she was canonized June 24, 1950 before the largest crowd ever assembled at that time in Rome for a canonization. She is the patroness of teenage girls.

Desde el lunes 22 de junio, la oficina parroquial está abierta de 9 am a 5 pm, de lunes a viernes solamente.

Cuando entre a la oficina, solo se le permitirá pararse en la ventana por la oficina. Por favor use una mascarilla en ese mo-mento.

Las Misas públicas diarias comenzarán nuevamente el lunes 29 de junio a las 8:30 am.

Las Misas públicas dominicales comenzarán el sábado 4 de julio a las 5 pm y el domingo 5 de julio a las 10 am en inglés y 12 pm en español.

No se permiten más de 175 personas en la iglesia al mismo tiempo debido a la restricción de solo la capacidad de 25%. Si superamos 175 personas, el salón parroquial estará abierto para ver la Misa en televisión y la comunión se les llevará después de la Misa. Esto probablemente será solo para la Misa en espa-ñol.

Si usted no se siente bien, no venga a Misa. Si ustedes todavía se sienten nerviosos de salir, está bien quedarse en casa. La obligación de no asistir a Misa está en efecto hasta nuevo aviso.

Cuando venga a la iglesia, por favor asegúrese de usar una mascarilla y por favor desinfecte sus manos al entrar.

Nacio el 16 de octubre de 1890. Ella es una Italiana virgen-mártir de la Iglesia y una de las santas más jóvenes que se ha canonizado.

Su padre murió cuando ella tenia nueve años y ellos tenían que compartir la casa con otra familia, los Senelli. Una tarde Alessan-

dro Senelli de veinte años, le hizo avances sexuales. Ella fue apu-ñalada hasta morir; prefirió morir antes que ser violada; con su

madre presente ella fue canonizada el 24 de junio de 1950, frente a

la más grande muchedumbre reunida en Roma para una canoni-zación en ese tiempo.

Ella es patrona de las muchachas adolescents.

“Consagración a Jesús Por Medio de María” La consagración consiste un retiro personal de 33 días donde reflexionaran a diario en cómo establecer una relación íntima con Cristo, guiados por María. Al concluir los 33 días tendremos una misa donde podremos hacer, o renovar, nuestras promesas a Jesús. Lo único que necesita para hacer este retiro personal es el libro que le guia-ra durante los 33 días. También, opcionalmente, estaremos reuniéndonos semanalmente para compartir experiencias y discutir las lecturas de la semana. (Estas reuniones serán videoconferencias por medio de Zoom, si no podemos reunirnos de forma presencial. Las reuniones se determinarán dependiendo la disponibilidad del grupo). La consagración comenzará el día 13 de Julio y concluirá el día 15 de Agosto en la Festividad de la Asunción de María. The Church was a Major Proponent of Scientific Advancement

The Catholic Church has been accused of having a hos-tile relationship with science, but scientific break-throughs often came from the Church’s greatest minds. St. Albert the Great was one of the forerunners of mod-ern science and was even said to have constructed a me-dieval robot that moved and spoke. Other scientific achievements within the Church included the invention of the electric motor by Andrew Gordon, a Benedictine Monk, and the co-invention of the internal combustion engine by the Italian Piarist Father Eugenio Barsanti.
