Courage/EnCourage: a Roman Catholic Apostolate
Courage/EnCourage is a Roman Catholic Apostolate that is dedicated to supporting Catholic men and women and their families who experience same-sex
attractions and desire to live chaste lives following the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Courage believes that people who experience same-sex
attractions (SSA) can follow Jesus Christ, can live a chaste, and grace-filled life. Additionally, EnCourage is a support group for family members, spouses, and friends of these men and women who experience SSA. Those individuals in
our community who may experience SSA and have questions may call Fr. Chris to make an appointment. For more information about Courage/EnCourage, you can
visit couragerc.org or contact Fr. Dave Leon at either 619-334-9269 or [email protected].
Learning About The Priesthood On Saturday, July 20, 2019 the Diocese of San Diego is hosting an Explorer Day for
those men who are interested in exploring a possible vocation to the priesthood. The day will be held at St. Francis Center on the campus of the University of San Diego
from 8:30AM to 3:30PM. If living a life of service for Christ and the people of God is attractive to you, take advantage of the opportunity to attend this upcoming Explorer
Day. Pick up an application at your parish office or call Fr. Lauro Minimo at St. Francis Center at (619) 291-7446.
Prison/ Jail Ministry
“For I was hungry and you gave me food…in prison and you visited me.” Are you called to a special ministry, to visit our forgotten community members? Have you
ever thought of visiting incarcerated adults and juveniles in our communities’ prisons or jails? The Office for Life, Peace, and Justice will be conducting two
information and orientation sessions for Prison/Jail Ministry on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019. Session #1 will be from 11:30AM to 1:30PM, and session #2 will be from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Both sessions will be in the Santa Clara Conference
Room at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 3888 Paducah Drive, San Diego. Both sessions are identical, and it is only necessary to attend one of the sessions. For further
information please contact Robert Ehnow, PhD at [email protected] or 858-490-8375.
Baptism Baptisms are a communal Sacrament held on the 4th Sunday of each month after the 11:00am Mass. Deacon John Fanelle performs all of the baptisms. Parents are required to be formally registered as parishioners, and be participating members of our community for three months. Attending Mass does not make you registered. You must have completed the registration form. If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class. Baptismal classes are held on the first Sunday of each month. Godparents are encouraged to attend the baptismal class, either at our parish or their own parish. For more information, or to schedule a Baptism and/or register for the Baptismal Class, please visit https://sttheresecarmel.org/baptism/. Marriage
All couples wishing to be married at St. Thérèse of Carmel must be formally registered, active and participating members of our parish community for one year before setting a date. Couples are asked to allow six to nine months to complete the marriage preparation program. Please contact the parish office at (858) 481-3232 or email [email protected] to make arrangements.
RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults RCIA is the process by which the unbaptized are received into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist. Unbaptized adults seeking a deeper union with Jesus Christ, through initiation into the Catholic Faith, are cordially invited to consider participation in the RCIA which will begin in the fall. RCIA is also appropriate for Christians from other denominations who seek initiation into the Catholic tradition and for Baptized Catholics who need to finish their sacraments of initiation. Please contact Karen Klause (858) 354-7441 for more information.
