OverviewThis conference is to acquaint professionals who provide mental health care with integrative therapies that can be incorporated into their clinical practice and mental health care settings.

Target AudienceThis conference is designed for Clinical Nurses, APRN’s, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Counselors, Chaplains/Spiritual Directors, Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Nutritionists/Dietitians, Naturopaths, Chiropractors, Recreational Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapists, Mental Health Associates and others interested in integrative approaches to mental health care.

ObjectivesUpon completion of the conference, participants should be able to:

1. Describe integrative mental health and potential integrative strategies that can be shared with individuals who are at risk for or are experiencing symptoms of a mental illness.

2. Identify strategies for incorporating integrative mental health care approaches into current mental health care and community mental health settings.

3. Express the value of integrative approaches for maintaining personal individual health and well-being.

4. Describe how the use of expressive arts can be a valuable addition to an integrative approach in maintaining personal health and well-being.

Successful completion by participants: Learner must complete the check-in process at registration, actively engage in activity content, attend full sessions, complete and return the Verification of Participation Worksheet, and complete the activity evaluation (online).

AccreditationNursingThe University of Minnesota School of Nursing, Office of Practice, Partnerships and Professional Development is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This activity will be awarded up to 6.0 ANCC contact hours.

PhysicianAllina Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Keynote Speaker: Richard Kogan, MD

Richard Kogan has a distinguished career both as a concert pianist and as a psychiatrist. He has been praised for his “eloquent, compelling, and exquisite playing” by The New York Times, and The Boston Globe wrote that “Kogan has somehow managed to excel at the world’s two most demanding professions.” He has gained renown for his lectures and recitals that explore the role of music in healing and the influence of psychological factors on the creative output of composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein.
