Evangelization Ministry

Join the Evangelization Ministry on Friday, January 3rd from 5:30-7:00pm at Friday Fest in Downtown Fort Pierce and we will meet in front of the Public Library. We will be offering free rosaries, medals, pamphlets, CD’s and prayers to people walking past our

wagon. We also need prayer warriors to lift up the Intentions we will be bringing back from these outings.

Who will bring the message of Christ to those who are no longer actively practicing their faith if not you?

Evangelizing is not only for a select few, but something each of us could be doing. So please come join us

in sharing Christ’s light in the world.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration

“The joy of discovery that moment when hope and expectation were gloriously met by the illumination of one bright star. We cannot imagine what words were spoken

by visitors or if first impressions left them somewhat confused. Messiah, Savior, a King born in the barest of

palaces. Yet they saw and fell down on their knees in adoration. Lord, they saw you and knew whom they

had met. Draw us close to our Savior, Messiah and King as we bring not Gold, Myrrh or Frankincense but the gift

of our lives, the only offering we can bring.”

Come spend time in Adoration and see what a huge difference it makes in your life I came so that they

might have life and have it more abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd.” John 10:10

Dominus Vobiscum: The use of Latin in the Mass

This Advent Season, our parish began a new initiative in the liturgy by introducing the Latin chants for the Mass parts (Holy, Holy, Holy; Mystery of Faith; Amen; and Lamb of God). From now on we will be using these for the seasons of Advent and Lent as an aid to help us shift into these different seasons in the life of our Church. In the following weeks, we will offer some articles to help explore how Latin continues to be part of the venerable Tradition of the Church, how it is a sign of Catholicity, and how it helps us enter more deeply into the Beauty and Mystery of the liturgy.

Invitation into Beauty and Mystery: “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood” (1 Corinthians 13:12). God has made Himself fully known to us, in and through His Son Jesus Christ. Due to our sin, we are not able to fully comprehend Him. The liturgy is an opportunity for us to enter into the mystery of God from within our own limitations. Through the arts of Latin and chant, one can truly enter into the liturgy in a stance of surrender to the beauty and grandeur of God, rather than with an analyzing and scientific mind. Both of these are more prone to aid us in this journey into the “unknown.”

“Consideration should also be given to including in the vernacular editions at least some texts in the Latin; language, especially those from the priceless treasury of Gregorian chant, which the Church recognizes as proper to the Roman Liturgy, and which, all other things being equal, is to be given pride of place in liturgical celebrations. Such chant, indeed, has a great power to lift the human spirit to heavenly realities..” (On The Use of Vernacular Languages in the Publication of the Books of the Roman Liturgy, Liturgiam authenticam, 7 May 2001 p.28.)

“In Masses which are celebrated with the people, a suitable place may be allotted to their mother tongue … Nevertheless steps should be taken so that the faithful may also be able to say or to sing together in Latin those parts of the Ordinary of the Mass which pertain to them..” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy Sacrosanctum concilium, 4 December 1963 p 54.)

Nursing Home Adoption Project

On December 7th Father Daniel, the Catholic Young Adults and Youth Group visited Abbie Jean Nursing

Home to donate items and celebrate Mass.

On Friday, December 6th our Sacramental Outreach Ministers brought donated items and cookies to the

residents of Fort Pierce Health Care and Fr. George celebrated Mass.

Please pray for the (approximately) 4 babies who were surgically terminated at the Fort Pierce abortion mill

last week. Also pray for the untold numbers of medically aborted lives that go uncounted.

Page 8 Fourth Sunday of Advent December 22, 2019 Advent is a journey (again!) toward the one true God, who is Himself journeying toward us. Throughout this journey,

God will give us signs of encouragement, to remind us why we are on this journey and that our efforts are indeed worthwhile. It is important for us to remain aware and open to these signs, so as to be able to receive them and

appropriate them. These different signs and the coming of Christ Himself (the sign above all signs!) will challenge and change our lives. We must surrender to Him and trust that this change will be for our greater good, our sanctification

and glorification (theosis, deification, divinization; cf. CCC 460).

St. Anastasia Church Diocesan Services Appeal I am so proud of our parish community for coming together to reach our 2019 DSA Goal. It is exciting to see increased donor participation, from the 40% in 2018 (with 310 families), to a 44% jump in 2019 (with 340 families). That is an increase we can all be proud of. What a magnificent expression of trust and diocesan family support. Our community has many needs, as does our families; thank you for your generosity and ongoing support and participation to the larger Universal Church needs and ministries."...Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me" (Mt 25:40). It truly is exciting and encouraging to see our parishioners, visitors and guests to St. Anastasia working together to meet our 2019 goal of $134,000. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, AND THANK YOU!! Our support and increased participation in the DSA makes my role as a Pastor and Administrator, much easier in terms of meeting our diocesan goals and responsibilities. As we move forward, one way the parish can add years to my life as Pastor is by completing and sending in your DSA pledge commitments on or before April 30, 2020, rather than waiting until December. Our 2020 DSA goal has been set for $137,000 with the theme of “Our Faith in Action.” We are excited to get things rolling with a kick off on January 11th and 12th. Our parish participation in the DSA is a direct way to proclaim Christ's love not only in word, but also in concrete action and outreach. Thank you for your generosity and continued support and May the Lord bless you and your families in this New Year. Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Richard E. George, II, Pastor

Our 2019 DSA assessment of $134,000 has been met. Thank you to the 340 Families (44% of the

Parish) out of 768 parish families, who have contributed or pledged. In order to complete

our goal all outstanding pledges must be fulfilled by the end of this month. Thank you for your generosity

and support!

Goal of $134,000 Reached!
