Lieutenant Governor Meet our

3

Konnichiwa Everyone!!

My name is Karl Lin, and I serve as the Division 1 Lieutenant Gover-

nor!! So far, April has been a great month for all members and offic-

ers as they transition into the new term. Communication and partici-

pation has been extremely superb! Keep it up foxes!

This month, we had our first Division Council Meeting of the term!! I

am super proud to say that it was successful! Members from all over

Division 1 attended, reaching a surprising amount of participation

with over 30+ attendees! Catch the featured photos from the April

DCM on the next month’s issue!

The Division Leadership Team was also appointed. After reading the

numerous applications, and even conducting some interviews, I am

happy to congratulate the new members of the leadership team! I

can’t wait to work with you all! Also, a big

round of applause to April Awardees:

Jazmine Arizala (Member), Annie Lu-

ong (Officer), and Santa Monica

(Club).

Thank you once again for being

such great people, foxes. I can’t

wait to see you all again at the

May DCM!

Division 1 Banquet “The Division 1 Banquet was such as a

great time to recognize the members and

officers that serve the community. This pic-

nic-style banquet allowed members from

clubs within division 1 to get to know each

other by the exciting ice breakers and the

fun dance session! We played many

games that included teamwork and

communication as a requirement. But

the joy does not end here. Awards

and certificates were given to the

leaders of key club! As an officer that

received an award, the moment that

I received my ohana’s applaud

made me feel that all I did for key

club was completely worth it. Last but not

least, Angelina, the lieutenant governor for

the term 2014-2015, gave her last speech.

She is extremely hard working and inspired

many officers like me, to continue to lead

the club. During her speech, she ad-

dressed her gratitude many times for

division 1. Now, her responsibilities will

be handed over to Karl Lin, our cur-

rent lieutenant governor. This banquet

gave me the motivation to speak up

about key club as people I met care

about the community in the best

way!”

“District Convention 2015 is really an experi-

ence that was more than celebrating the

end of my term as a club president. I find

that it was more of a weekend full of meeting

amazing new people, learning more about

the missions of Key Club and other organiza-

tions in association with Key Club, and enjoy-

ing the energy and spirit for service that eve-

rybody has. Walking into the hotel on the first

day of DCON was a bittersweet moment as I

realized that I was there to retire as an officer

of Key Club. Seeing everybody in their spirit

gear and all the enthusiasm they had en-

lightened me on the vast amount of people

that truly and genuinely share the same love

for serving and giving back to others. By the

second day, I had the opportunity to listen to

and vote for the new board of the district. I

had to take a moment to realize how pas-

sionate and dedicated some people are to

be leaders of the district, no matter how

many other responsibilities they have. The

dance on Saturday night was also an ex-

tremely enjoyable time as I got to see other b

-boys in action as well as dancing with new

people. The third and final day, however,

was the most enjoyable and emotional out

of all. Just on Sunday morning, I was able to

eat breakfast, reconnect with people from

my region, participate in another mini-dance

party, and see the new Lieutenant Governors

get installed. The connections that I made on

Sunday morning are definitely the ones that

have had the most impact on me. After tak-

ing a really large amount of pictures, seeing

many tears shed, and the future of Key Club

start their journeys, it was all over. It did not

make me sad that it was all over, I felt con-

tent with all that has happened over the past

year and the service I have done and mem-

ories I have made with my club and division.

Although I was not with Key Club throughout

my whole high school career, I can truly say

that it is something that I will cherish and nev-

er forget.”

“March 13-15 of 2015 was the fun eat week-

end I have ever had being apart of Key

Club. The 69th Annual Cali Nev Hah district

convention occurred and I was lucky

enough to attend. Through out the weekend

I got to experience new thing and socialize

with many different people. The first day was

a total blast filled with cheer and excitement.

I had to chance to cheer on with fellow key

clubbers within the Cali Nevha District! Within

the second day it was business attire and I

got experience and learn how to act in the

real world. Growing up and maturing was a

big part towards the second day of DCON.

The best part through out DCON for me was

the last day. Since this was my last year of

being apart of Key Club, I was not alone.

There were many other key clubbers who felt

the same as I did. I created a bond with

them that I hope not to lose in the near fu-

ture. And opened my eyes to becoming a

Circle K member within my college career.”

Messages from our Division Leadership Team

Alright foxes I hope y'all (I know I'm saying this right) are ready for the fun and exciting year

we'll have together! Brace yourselves for the most epic, most thrilling year you guys will ex-

perience. During my term, I hope to bring us closer as a family and to let our community

know that we foxes are here to serve. I want to show how amazing and welcoming our

family is, to show that although we may be small we still got that key club

power. Remember, key club is here due to your effort and spirit to serve

the community. As a fox, you will have many opportunities to meet new

people, improve your leadership, and to create your own colors as an

individual. During my term, I plan on growing my relationship with each

and every one of you from an acquaintance to a friend and much

more.

Hello! My name is Uriel Lopez and I am from Oscar de la Hoya High School. As this years Executive

Assistant I am looking forward to helping Division 1 as much as I can and have fun! I love to hang

out with high spirited people so I can't wait to begin! A little about myself is that I enjoy working for

nonprofit organization and doing volunteer work. My favorite part of working with

nonprofits is being able to gather with people who really appreciate and value

what one as an individual believes. Throughout my high school career my fami-

ly has grown because I do not only have my sisters and mom living with me at

home, I also have my friends at school, and other clubs. Which leads to my

next point, about enjoying life and socializing! I really enjoy cooking, talking

to new people, and developing long lasting friendships! So I hope that during

my term I am able to meet all of you because we will have a blast!

Hey everybody!!! My name is Bea Calilung and I will be your Division News

Editor for the 2015-2016 term. I am currently a Junior at Downtown Mag-

nets High School. During my term, I hope to increase participa-

tion in our division, meet new people from different schools,

and make a difference in our community. As DNE, I will try

my best to take amazing pictures during events such as

DCMs so in the future, we all can look back at our news

articles and see how much we have grown as a team.

Hello! My name is Julie Duong and I will serving as your Elimi-

nate Fundraiser Chair for the 2015-2016 term. Currently, I am

a sophomore at Lincoln High School. During my term, I hope

to meet new people and improve my social skills. Although I'm

awkward with new people, I hope to get along with many peo-

ple I meet along the way. My goals are to help fund raise for mothers who

don't have the money to get the medical help they need and to come up

with fundraising events with our D1's PTP Fundraiser Chair, Angeza Santos.

Hey Errrrrrone! I am Angeza (an-jez-zuh) Santos, currently a Junior at

Downtown Magnets High School, and I will be serving as Division 1 Key

Club's 2015 -2016 PTP (Pediatric Trama Program) Fundraising Chair.

While taking over this position, one goal I have is to help fellow mem-

bers become more aware of the amount of children who are killed/ in-

jured by trauma as well as what PTP does in order to help with the cause.

My second goal is to work along side Julie Duong, Division 1's Eliminate Fund-

raising Chair in order to come up with fundraising events to successfully raise money for

both organizations. Knowing how hard it might be to raise money, I have faith that our fel-

low Foxes would strive to do their best in order to help out with these programs! :)

This year has been my first year in Key Club and it is safe to say that it has been

such a great experience so far. I came into Key Club believing that it would

prove to be an average club with mundane tasks. However the events that I’ve

participated in, the meaningful work that I have committed, and the environ-

ment of kindness and friendliness that I am constantly surrounded by has proved

that Key Club is nothing at all of what I had expected it to be. I have become part of

an optimistic family who believes that people who work together can definitely change a

community and make a huge impact by committing to volunteer work. I am so glad that I made the

right choice in becoming a part of Key Club. Even more so, I am ecstatic about becoming part of

the Division 1 committee as the Member Recognition Chair for the 2015-2016 year. I am prepared to

dedicate my time and hard work to this position and fulfill the needs of my fellow Foxy members!

Thank you so much to everyone who has and continues to make this such a great experience for me.

Hi, my name Jenny Zhao a Junior from Lincoln High school and I am

Division 1 Key Club's Technology and Graphics Coordinator. I will

dedicate myself this position as an opportunity to improve my current

skills and experience. I have done Photography, Film, Photoshop,

Graphics, and other computer-related things. I've also have some work

experience involving community events specifically in Chinatown. I help the

Chinatown Business Improvement District Office to take photos of there events, VIPs,

and many more. By all means I am not a professional photographer but I am willing to

learn and improve to capture the events, meetings, and the involvement of the volun-

teers for the future of Key Club.

My name is Jazmine Arizala. I love hyping stuff up,

from little things, like a chocolate bar, to big

events, like Horror Nights. I got that Asian pride

too /clap/. I’m always happy, like for real, nothing

can bring me down. I give out that positive vibe

and nothing can bring my mood down. By the way y’all, I have

a guy for everything, so just hit me up if y’all need anything.

Wanting to pursue a career in the healthcare field, I aim to ful-

ly engage myself to not just researching about certain condi-

tions and disparities our brothers and sisters face on a daily ba-

sis, but also encouraging our more privileged brothers and sisters

to offer moral support through fundraising efforts. Being the Key

Club Preferred Charities Educator would be the primary outlet for me to further

the spirit of helping and guiding advocated by Key Club from the very begin-

ning. Never meeting is not an excuse for never helping someone in need.

Key Club Spirit. But overall, I want to be able to make Key Club

fun for everyone, to be able to let you guys have the opportunity to meet people

from schools you never even heard of. I’m honored to serve as one of your Spirit
