Called - Nurtured - Sent To carry on the Mission of Christ

From Your Pastor

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Fall season is upon us and the weather is beginning to change. Har-vests have begun. Thanksgiving is an opportunity for us to express gratitude to God for any and all blessings in our lives. We also should be grateful to others around us for their contributions to the well being of society in general and to us in particu-lar.

On that note; I would like to thank in particular the Knights of Columbus who helped make the St. Michael feast celebration a success by their presence and to all who helped to make that evening a success.

To all those who helped decorate the churches for the fall season, I thank you for your commit-ment to keep our churches looking beautiful.

And to those who have donated generously to the poor, especially with the St. Vincent de Paul food drive.

A special thank you to everyone. In some way, big and small, you are all contributing members of the parish and community. I thank you all for all the things you do to make this world a better place. For witnessing to your faith, and trying to live out your discipleship intentionally. May you and your family be blessed this thanksgiving.

May the Grace and Peace of God our Father, the Love of Jesus Christ, and the Companionship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Holly’s RCIA Story

Two words come to mind when I think back to my RCIA experi-ence: transformative and revitalizing. I chose the word experience because my faith is ongoing and the experience I had with RCIA is what momentously led to this incredible journey. When I first consid-ered becoming a Catholic, I thought it was primarily because I wanted better schooling for my children. I’ve come to understand that what I really wanted for them, and for me, was to find God and live in all his glory. My father had been baptized Catholic, and aside from church services here and there as a child, I didn’t really have a faith. When I met with Leanne regarding RCIA, I was apprehensive. What if I was-n’t good enough for God? I quickly learned of God’s love and felt at ease and at peace. My fellow Catholics and candidates became so much more to me, they became friends. My weekly classes became

something I looked forward to, excited to learn more about the Cath-olic faith and more about myself. My mentor and sponsor, Leanne and Kelly, became people I truly looked up to and wanted to spend time with. My life started to change in miraculous ways almost imme-diately. To some it might sound crazy, perhaps even unbelievable, and I would have shared those exact thoughts beforehand. But now I know better. I love greater. I live with faith and God by my side even in the most challenging times. I’m not perfect, and I don’t pretend to be, and it’s ok because I’m trying, and He’s got my back. You’re deny-ing yourself of the greatest power, the greatest opportunity and the greatest love if you remain the person I once was. You owe it to your-self to seek better, and He believes in you, as does the Church and the Catholic faith. Trust in the RCIA experience, you will not be disap-pointed. The RCIA journey begins Wednesday, October 17. If you would like more information about Becoming Catholic, please con-tact Leanne at 519-344-2992 x25.
