“Go out to all the world and tell the Good News. (Ps 117, Mk 16:15)
Is it enough to be a “good person” or does the Lord demand something more?
We know that God is all-merciful, but do we ever take God’s mercy for granted? How?
The parable suggests that it is not enough to know Jesus ~ we must live His message. How are your living Jesus’ mes-sage? How might you have to change your priorities in order to live His message more fully?
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We pray for our young people as they return to school. May it be a year of many blessings for them. I concelebrated the Funeral Mass of Fr. Robert Labella. It was a beautiful Mass offered by Bishop Lennon. In his homily, Bishop Pevec gave a wonderful reflection on how Father lived his priesthood. As a young priest, Archbishop Broglio served with him at St. Margaret Mary. I asked the Archbishop if he would share some of his thoughts. They follow:
I join the Diocese of Cleveland and the parishioners of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in giving thanks for the life and ministry of the Reverend Robert Labella.
It was he who welcomed me to my first assignment as an Associate Pastor (as we were then known) at St. Margaret Mary Parish in South Euclid. It was his first and only pastorate, and he strove mightily to do his best in sometimes challenging situations.
His piety was earnest and his desire to serve motivated his priesthood from his first assignments as an Assistant in two parishes to his duties as Librarian and then Spiritual Director at Borromeo Seminary. He demonstrated that same spirit of ministry in his zeal for the sick at St. Vincent Charity Hospital and continued to care for others at St. Anthony Parish, Akron, his final assignment.
Many longtime parishioners will remember his good will. He even took the part of Fonzie in a parish variety show. Neither he nor I knew much about the TV show we were supposed to mimic, but he brought down the house.
Let us remember him in our prayers and learn from his example of service and obedience.
Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio May Fr. Labella and all of the former pastors of St. Margaret Mary and St. Gregory the Great Parishes, who have gone before us, rest in the peace of Christ.
May God's blessings be yours this week.

I was strong when I did my first full body workout at volleyball.
I didn’t complain about going back to school. I was nice to my little sister.
Thank you children for sharing these. Father Ireland

Pilgrimage 2013
- A Year of Faith Journey
LAST CALL … DON’T MISS OUT DEADLINE IS APPROACHING QUICKLY
Now through September 8th, the Diocese is sponsoring a Year of Faith Pilgrimage to five parishes throughout the Diocese in honor of the Year of Faith. The Cathedral has been chosen as the final pilgrimage site for this journey.
This means that we anticipate numerous visitors coming through our doors, either for Mass or during the other pilgrimage times. The hours for the pilgrimage are Saturdays: 3:00 - 7:00 pm, and Sundays 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. While we hope that these individ-uals and groups will absorb all of the beautiful details of the church space, the Mary Chapel will serve as a special focal point.
