WARNING CRASH HAZARD

When the chain is on the small chainring and smallest rear cog, reduced clearance between the chain and large chainring upshift rivets can cause the chain to unintentionally catch on the upshift rivets, which may lead to loss of control of the bicycle.

Potential problems with not following the minimum chainstay length

WARNING CRASH HAZARD

When the chain is on the big chainring and smallest rear cog, increased chain angle, increased chain angle can cause the chain to derail outboard off of the large chainring under very high pedaling loads, which may lead to a crash and serious injury and/or death to the rider.

NOTES

1 Chainstay should be designed for sufficient clearance to the chain when on the smallest cog to avoid contact between chain and chainstay when riding over a rough surface.

2 7 mm Max applies where the chain crosses the chainstay while in the smallest cog.

3 The chainstay length for all 1x road chainrings is ≥ 395 mm. For 2x chainstay length go the Front Derailleur section.

PressFit 30™

SRAM® PressFit 30™ (PF30) bottom brackets have been designed and tested to work within the bounds of the dimensions and tolerances in the shell specifications and bottom bracket specifications. Materials, manufacturing methods, and frame shell designs can potentially influence the performance of the bottom bracket, even when the shell is manufactured to these specifications. In these instances, it is recommended that bicycle manufacturers confirm the bottom bracket system performance with individual frame configurations.

Things that should be considered when evaluating the frame and bottom bracket interaction include, but are not limited to:

• Loosening of the adapter cups from the bottom bracket shell (frame material choice can greatly affect friction coefficient).

• Binding of bearings within the bottom bracket.

For more information regarding PF30 bottom bracket technical information, contact your SRAM representative.

1 Dimensions apply after finishing.

2 Only dimensions essential to bottom bracket PressFit and function are shown. All other details are left to the discretion of the frame or component designer. Dimensions shown do not take the place of proper frame, bottom bracket shell, or crankset design.

3 PressFit surfaces should be unpainted.

2 Caliper Connectamajig is located here. The hose fitting feeds through the frame from front to back. Specify caliper hose exit angle per hose angle specification.

3 Hose inline Connectamajig is located here. The hose fitting feeds through the frame from back to front.

4 Measure hose length from the hood attachment to the caliper fitting. The hood bolt starts approximately 20 mm from the end of the hose, as shown.

5 For internal routing, the SJ (Stealth-a-majig) connection requires a hole in the frame or fork that is at least 5.1 mm, the size of the brake hose diameter.

6 For internal routing, the CJ (Connect-a-majig) connection requires a hole in the frame or fork that is at least 7 mm. The necessary hole size depends on the angle required for passing the hose through the frame.

7 Hose bend radius at 20° C = 30 mm minimum; Hose diameter Ø 5.1 maximum.

8 Brake system is not compatible with mineral based fluids such as damping fluid, mineral oil, fork fluid, or RockShox® Reverb™ fluid.

NOTES

1 Available in rear bolt lengths: 17, 22, 27, 32, 37, and 42 mm

⚠WARNING - CRASH HAZARDThere must be 5-7 mm of mounting bolt thread engagement when mounting brake calipers to forks and frames with flat mount hardward and brackets. Riding a bike with improper bolt engagement can allow the brakes to disengage from the bicycle, which can lead to a crash and serious injury or death to the rider.

S-990/S-900/S-500Aero Brake Lever Bar Guidelines

NOTES

1 Bar guidelines: Round inner diameter of 19.5 mm to 21.0 mm with unobstructed minimum insertion of 36.5 mm.

82

SINGLE DIGIT®

The link must be a minimum of 38 mm from the inside edge of the cable arm to prevent the link from contacting the cable anchor arm. If the link and arms are too far apart, the top of the brake arm can extend too far from the frame or fork and interfere with the rider's feet.

SINGLE DIGIT®Cable Link/Noodle/Boot

NOTES

1 The Avid® cable link on all side-pull brakes is made of stainless steel and is riveted onto the brake arm. It is specifically designed for use with the Avid noodle.

2 The Avid noodle on Single Digit 7/SL is specifally designed to allow the installation and removal from the link without removing the Overcoat boot from the noodle tip.

3 The noodle is available in the following bends: 90, 110, and 135 degrees.

Overcoat Boot Installation

⚠WARNING - CRASH HAZARDDo not use roller-type noodles with Avid side-pull brakes. Due to the radius of most roller-type noodles, and the diameter of the brake cable, there is a safety concern.

Mechanical Brake Compatibility

NOTES

1 Brake levers with a cable pull of more than 32 mm are compatible with Avid Single Digit, BB7 MTB, and BB5 MTB mechanical disc brakes, but reduce brake power.

2 Avid® Single Digit, BB7 MTB, and BB5 MTB mechanical disc brakes are compatible with virtually all side-pull specific brake levers. As with any side-pull brake, it is recommended to use adjustable leverage brake levers when using Single Digit, BB7 MTB, and BB5 MTB mechanical disc brakes.
