Beforewe start we would like to say a big THANK YOU for keeping to the payment schedule. All payments have now been made. 4. Mr Livesey ( Trip Leader) At the castleMr Shepherd ( Deputy Trip Leader)Mrs Randles There will be staff on duty 24hr aday .Mrs DavidsonSpecific staff will be allocated toMrs Turnerlook after our group throughout ourvisit. Currently we are the onlyMrs Healeygroup on site during this week.Ms Wilsonduring Outdoor and AdventureMr Thomas activities each group will notexceed 12 and each will have aspecifically trained member of stafffor that activity. 5. All those who said their children had aUK passport will have to use them.I will collect them in on the morning ofdeparture.Whilst travelling I will look after eachpassport. Upon arrival at the castlethey will be stored in a securelocation.Those that applied for and filled inthe forms for the collective passport.I have received confirmation from thepassport office. 6. Likewise I will need tocollect everyones EHICcard on the morning ofdeparture. 7. School Has travel insurancefor children when on schooltrips which includes cover forMedical expenses, Death and permanent disablement Possessions and travel documents Personal liabilityHowever if you wish you aremore than welcome topurchase your own additionalinsurance. 8. Sharpes of Nottingham will be thecoach company which will take usto France. They will be with usthroughout the week for thevarious visits.They will pick us up outside thefront of School Monday 22ndOctober at4am!!!!!arriving at the castle by 4pm ish!On Friday 26 October , we aim tobe back at school for 11.15pm!!!We will keep you informed as toour journey progress via textservice. 9. We will also be using P&O ferryfrom Dover to Calais.Outward bound journey leavingat 12.55pmReturn journey leaving 15.20pmIf your child suffers from travelsicknessPlease ensure appropriatemedication is taken beforetravel and is available duringtravel.If you would like this medicationto be given on the returnjourney please enclose detailson the medical form. 10. All meals at the castle are included in the cost of the trip. However your children will need to bring with them adisposable packed Breakfast and lunch ( named bagsplease) for the Monday An evening meal will be provided on the Friday on the wayback. If your child has any food requirements please ensure theseare detailed on the medical questionnaire. 11. In July all children were asked for the names of friends they would like to sharegroups and rooms with. I have tried to make sure all children have at leastone friend in both their bedroom and day group. Ill share group details withthe children closer to the time. 13. Children will share theensuite roomsThe children will need theirown sleeping bag, pillow caseand towels for their ownpersonal use.Between the pupils roomsthere are staff rooms andcastle supervisor rooms.These rooms are clearlylabelled 14. Hawes Side Educational ActivitiesFrance Trip 2012RECOMMENDED CLOTHING AND KIT LISTLuggage:Please restrict this to one case plus one piece of hand luggage. Metal framed rucksacks should beavoided as they are difficult to fit into the coach.Spending Money:This is not essential, but children may wish to have some money to spend on souvenirs (i.e.T-shirts or postcards) or sweets, drinks. No more than 30 to be handed in on Monday morning.Torch:The children may find this useful.Bedding:Children only require a sleeping bag & pillowcase.Towels: All children require their own towels for personal use.Clothing: Please ensure all clothes; shoes, bags etc are named, so that if they do get lost, we can forward them tothe owner. For children doing activities they require old clothing. The children will require long sleeve tops and longtrousers for a number of activities even in the summer months. They will not be able to take part in certain activities ifthey do not have these. On an activity day the children would require a number of outfits. Clothing that dry easier wouldbe helpful.Clothing List: 2 pairs of old trainersAdventure Groups 3 pairs of old tracksuit bottoms3 (at least) long sleeve tops/ sweatshirts1 fleece or 2 woollen jumpers1 waterproof/splash proof/rain jacket (ideally waterproof/splash proof trousers also)1 towelWoollen SocksWoolly/fleece hat/glovesHair ties for students with long hairA carrier for any medicationFootwear: All children doing activities require a pair of trainers (Open toe shoes are not allowed for safety reasons.(children without suitable footwear will not be able to take part in the activities).Items Discouraged: Radios, stereos, CD/mp3 players, mobile phones & game consoles. Please note theseitems are not allowed to be taken to activities and the centre accepts no responsibility for loss, breakage or misuse ofthis equipment.Other useful items:Water bottle for use during activities. 15. Children are NOT allowed to bringmobile phones on the trip.Children will be able to communicateto home via the blog which is alreadyup and running.Before departure we will ensure youhave contact details for a member ofstaff in case of emergency.Like wise please ensure the detailsyou provide on the consent form areaccurate. 16. It is a very long journey so we will allow children to bring a small toy,games console or MP3 Player for the journey BUT STAFF WILL NOT BEHELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE TO THE SAIDITEMS. 17. Parental Consent form inyour pack MUST be filled forall children attending and bereturned by Wednesday 19thSeptember. 18. MedicalquestionnaireMUST be filled forall childrenattending andagain returned byWednesday 19thSeptember. 19. Hawes Side Educational ActivitiesYear 5 & 6 Residential week in FranceMonday 22nd October 2012 to Friday 26th October 2012Administering of medicinesIf your child has to take prescribed medication during the visit the following actions have tobe undertaken:The parent must give explicit consent in a letter to the group leader for a teacher tosupervise a pupil taking medication.The letter needs to specify the name of the drug, dosage, frequency and state when theend of a course of prescribed medication ends.All medication should be clearly marked with the pupils name and details of dosage.A year 5/6 in line with school policy is in charge of his /her own inhalerIf a child needs to use an inhaler for asthma a spare inhaler needs to be taken in case onebecomes damaged or lost.For the visit a named teacher will oversee any medication which has to be given to the child.This will be recorded in a log book showing date, time and dosage given. 20. Pupil Code of ConductThe visit to France is an educational experience which requires your activeparticipation in conducted tours or visits to places of interest;It is necessary that you maintain the high standards of behaviour at all times;I therefore agree that I will:Immediately respond to instructions given by teachers and supervisors.Co-operate with the staff and with other pupils to make this visit enjoyable,trouble free and educationally rewarding for all;Keep a record, of visits and activities arranged during the trip;Dress appropriately and with sensible shoes suitable for walking ;Be punctual at all times, for meals etc;Behave quietly and sensibly in the accommodation to avoid inconvenience to thecentre management and other visitors;Remain in my room until the next morning after lights out unless in anemergency;Remain attentive and act sensibly at all times;Clearly label all my clothing and my baggage;I am aware that my parents/guardians will be contacted in the event ofmisconduct or persistence misbehaviour and if this continues, I may be sent homeearly, or my parents may be asked to collect me. 21.
