Josh Lerner, Ann Leamon, Felda Hardymon VENTURE CAPITAL, PRIVATE EQUITY, AND THE FINANCING OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP Finance & Investments Special Topics • 978-0-470-59143-7

Cloth • 536 pages • 20.32 x 25.40 cm. • 12/07/2011

Venture Capital, Private Equity, and the Financing of Entrepreneurship explores the exciting world of active investing and lays out in a clear and readily accessible way their key features, ways of doing business and likely evolution. This textbook will provide a comprehensive overview of the world of active investing. An introductory chapter will motivate the book and tell the story of the venture capital and private equity industries. The book follows the cycle of active investing. Raising funds, considering transactions, structuring and overseeing transactions, and exiting investments are considered in turn. The focus is not just on the U.S. market, but on the increasingly global nature of these activities. The book looks at active investors as businesses themselves and introduces the key features of these firms. How groups grapple with questions of scaling and internationalization and the disruptive impact of market cycles are among the topics considered. The book has two chapters looking at the impact of these funds: first, how the investments by these funds have performed, and then the broader consequences of these investments. The book also looks “into the crystal ball” and projects the future of active investing. Supplemental Materials

Thomas F. Oltmanns, Michele T. Martin, John M. Neale, Gerald C. Davison CASE STUDIES IN ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY, 9TH EDITION Abnormal Psychology • 978-1-118-08619-3

Paper • 416 pages • 15.24 x 22.86 cm. • 12/08/2011

Most textbooks on abnormal psychology include short descriptions of actual clinical cases. However, those presentations are necessarily brief and too fragmented for students to gain a clear understanding of the unique complexities of a person's troubled life. Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology, Ninth Edition takes mental disorders from the realm of theory into the complex reality of human lives. This casebook presents comprehensive coverage of 23 high interest cases that include topics such as eating disorders, gender identity disorder, borderline personality, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Each study (1) provides detailed descriptions of a range of clinical problems, (2) illustrates some of the ways in which these problems can be viewed and treated, and (3) discusses some of the evidence that is available concerning the prevalence and causes of the disorders in question. Thomas Oltmanns is a professor of Abnormal Psychology at Washington University of St Louis. Ronald Comer, Elizabeth Gould PSYCHOLOGY AROUND US, 2ND EDITION Psychology General • 978-1-118-01207-9

Cloth • US$ 154.95 • 752 pages • 23.50 x 27.62 cm. • 12/14/2011

Comer and Gould's Psychology Around Us demonstrates the many-often surprising, always fascinating-intersections of psychology with students' day-to-day lives. Every chapter includes sections on human development, brain function, individual differences and abnormal psychology that occur in that area. These "cut-across" sections highlight how the different fields of psychology are connected to each other and how they connect to everyday life. Every chapter begins with a vignette that shows the power of psychology in understanding a whole range of human behavior. This theme is reinforced throughout the chapter in boxed readings and margin notes that celebrate the extraordinary processes that make the everyday possible and make psychology both meaningful and relevant. The text presents psychology as a unified field the understanding of which flows from connecting its multiple subfields and reinforces the fact that psychology is a science with all that this implies (research methodology, cutting edge studies, and the application of critical thinking). Ronald Comer has taught in Princeton University's Department of Psychology for the past 35 years and has served as Director of Clinical Psychology Studies for most of that time. Comer has received the President's Award for Distinguished Teaching at the university. He also is the author of the textbooks Abnormal Psychology, now in its seventh edition, and Fundamentals of Abnormal Psychology, now in its fifth edition, and the coauthor of Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology. Comer is the producer of a range of educational videos, including Introduction to Psychology Video Clipboard, Developmental Psychology Video Clipboard, Video Segments in Abnormal Psychology, and Video Segments in Neuroscience. In addition, he has published numerous journal articles in clinical psychology, personality, social psychology, and family medicine. Elizabeth Gould has taught in Princeton University's Department of Psychology for the past 12 years. Gould, an international leader in the study of neurogenesis (the production of new neurons in the mammalian brain), was the winner of the 2006 NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award and the 2009 Royal Society of the Arts Benjamin Franklin Medal. She serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of Neuroscience, Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, and Biological Psychology.

Born in the Netherlands, de Blij has a unique range of educational experiences. He received his early schooling in Europe (part of it during the Second World War as recounted in his memoir Wartime Encounter), his college education in Africa, and his higher degrees (Ph.D., Northwestern) in the United States. Dr. de Blij has published more than 30 books including scientific, educational, and trade titles, and over 100 articles. Printings of his textbook Geography: Realms, Regions and Concepts (Wiley) have exceeded 1 million copies in 11 editions since 1970. He specializes in geopolitical and environmental issues, and has held named chairs at Georgetown University, Marshall University, and the Colorado School of Mines. Dr. de Blij currently is Distinguished Professor of Geography at Michigan State University, where he also taught throughout the decade of the 1960s. Timothy Foresman, Alan H. Strahler VISUALIZING PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY, 2ND EDITION Physical Geography • 978-0-470-62615-3

Paper • 624 pages • 23.18 x 27.62 cm. • 12/19/2011

With its unique approach, this second edition captures the reader’s attention and demonstrates why physical geography is relevant to them. It relies heavily on the integration of National Geographic and other visuals with narrative to explore key concepts. New emphasis is placed on environmental issues, such as climate change, overpopulation and deforestation, from a geographical perspective. Readers will appreciate this approach because it vividly illustrates the interconnectedness of physical processes that weave together to create our planet’s dynamic surface and atmosphere. Alan Strahler earned his Ph.D. degree in Geography from Johns Hopkins in 1969, and is presently Professor of Geography at Boston University. He has published over 250 articles in scientific literature, largely on the theory of remote sensing of vegetation, and has also contributed to the fields of plant geography, forest ecology, and quantitative methods. In 2011, he received the Pecora Award from the US Geological Survey and the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in recognition of his work in remote sensing. He has also been awarded the Association of American Geographers/Remote Sensing Specialty Group Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Remote Sensing. With Arthur Strahler, he is a coauthor of seven textbook titles with twelve revised editions on physical geography and environmental science. He holds the honorary degree D.S.H.C. from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
