OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT Jayde Randall and her parents will be travelling to
Sydney on Wednesday to compete in the State final of the Premiers Spelling Bee. Jayde won the Franklin
Spelling Bee, the regional final and now competes in the state final. This is an amazing challenge for Jayde
and we wish her all the very best.
CELEBRATE FRANKLIN’S TENNIS PLAYERS This week we see our Stage 2 Red Ball Tennis
players head to Sydney for the Todd Woodbridge Cup. The players will be heading to the tennis stadium at Homebush to play in
the round robin. This is a wonderful opportunity for the
students to play at an Olympic venue. We wish them all the very best.
WEDDING WISHES On Saturday Miss Hilly was married. We wish both
Rebecca and Chris best wishes for their future together. They will be in Fiji for a couple of weeks for
their honeymoon. Miss Hilly will be returning to school in week 7.

Mindfulness @ Franklin
K Banks is trialing the next aspect of their classroom’s Mindfulness Program.
Mindfulness is an awareness. It is the art of noticing thoughts, feelings and sensations. Practising mindfulness allows the students to experience calm and peacefulness. K Banks have adopted this approach when engaged in specific ‘quiet’ lessons.
After recess the students in K Banks take five minutes to participate in breathing exercises which allows them to calm their mind and body after they have engaged in outside play. Then they listen to quiet music playing in the background when completing tasks at their tables. The focus is upon the music and their breathing and, in doing so, the children are calm, relaxed and aware of their own body in their classroom environment.

Milo T20 Blast Cricket On Wednesday the 2nd November Mr Crane, Mr Lucas and Mrs Walsh took students from Stage 2 and 3 down to the Bull
Paddock for the Tumut Cup T20 Blast Competition. The day consisted of a round robin competition where students from
Franklin played against each other and students from McAuley. The day was run by NSW Cricket and the students received
Milo and cricketing tips during the day. Both schools showed great sportsmanship and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Well done!

3 BLAXLAND IN ACTION
3 Blaxland has been applying water colours and different sized
brush strokes to achieve pieces of Asian imagery of cherry blossom trees and Asian junk boats.
For our Science unit “Smooth Moves”, we’ve been investigating
the different forces at play with various objects, including pushes and pulls, friction and gravity.
In our Geography unit “Australia and its neighbours” we’ve been
learning about Australian’s islands, deserts, rivers, as well as different climates in the Southern and Northern Hemispheres.
This week in PBL students focus will be on out of
bounds areas at Franklin. We have these areas to keep
students safe at all times. Students know to stay away
from these areas and show our PBL values of Safety,
Achievement and Respect at all times.
We stay in the designated areas!
