Ensemble playing is an important part of music education. Students frequently learn the skills of music making through performing musical arrangements. Ensemble play-ing also promotes team work within the classroom. Volume Five is a collection of ten arrangements written with the second year, second semester and/or third year guitar class in mind. The keys used are C, Am, F, Dm, G, Em, D, A and E. The majority of the rhythms consists of whole, dotted-half, half, quar-ter, eighth and sixteenth notes. Time signatures include 4/4, 3/4 and 6/8. The range is from low “E” on the sixth string to an occasional high “F” on the first string., thirteenth fret. These arrangements have been tested repeatedly with middle school guitar students and intermediate high school students. They make for a wonderful presentation for performances.
