Here's how to find free legal assistance from the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association's Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLS) or another legal services program in our community:
If you are financially eligible (see below) and have a non-criminal legal problem in Pierce County, call Volunteer Legal Services at (253) 572-5134. If you reach voice mail, please leave one message and you will receive a call back within 48 hours.
You may also call CLEAR at 1-888-201-1014 weekdays from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. to receive legal assistance by phone or to be referred to local resources for more help.
If you are age 60 and over, regardless of income, call CLEAR*Sr at 1-888-387-7111; however, seniors must be low-income to receive additional assistance through Volunteer Legal Services.
If you are not eligible for low-income legal services you may be able to receive referral to an attorney through the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service at (253) 383-3432 or through the WSBA Moderate Means Program at 1-855-741-6930. If you are pro se (representing yourself) the Internet is a valuable source of information.
