AARP Smart Driving Class The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. And you will learn something new
along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned. It offers you a chance to refresh your driving skills and knowledge of the rules of the road. Learn techniques for handling left turns, right-of-ways and rounda-bouts. Discover proven methods to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road.
We will be offering an AARP Driver Safety Program on Monday May 20th
from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. All you need is your driver’s license and your AARP card if you’re a member. The class fee is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
Registration is required. Call 920-361-5422 for more information.
Monday, May 20 1:00 - 5:00 pm
AARP Member $15 Non-Member $20
THANK YOU TO OUR MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN
The Veterans Socialization Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 12:30 here at the Senior Center. We encourage all veterans to come to find encouragement and socialize with one another. Socializing can positively affect memory, immune system, cognition and blood pressure, and it can even help treat and
prevent depression.
NOTE: the meeting that would usually occur in May has been cancelled due to the Holy Hill trip that will occur later this month. The next meeting is on Tuesday, June 11th at 12:30.
Page 4 INSIGHT May 2019
Join on the third Tuesday of this month as Dave Parker from Health Connection shows us how to create a healthy dish here at the Senior Center. The presentation begins at 11:30, with lunch to follow at noon. This is program is offered through the Senior Center.
In order to cover rising costs, we have had to raise the fee for this program. If you are inter-ested in joining for this month’s program for a chance to talk with Dave about Silver Sneakers and other programs he offers, call us at 361-5422.
YARD WORKERS AVAILABLE
Spring is officially here and that means flowers! And
leaves...and weeds. Are you in need of helpers for your
yard work? The Berlin Senior Center has a list of people
willing to help do basic yard maintenance. They range
from families looking to help out the community to high
schoolers hoping to make some gas money.
If you need some help this spring and summer, please
give us a call at 361-5422 and we will help put you in
contact with some-
one who would like
to do some yard-
work!

Beware Social Security
Scam
Scammers pretending to be from the So-
cial Security Administration (SSA) are
saying your Social Security number
(SSN) has been suspended because of
suspicious activity or being involved in a
crime.
Sometimes, the scammer wants you to
confirm your SSN to reactivate it or will
ask for money or gift cards to keep your
SSN or bank account safe.
Never confirm or give out your Social
Security
number to callers!

AQUA YOGA Join Dr. Jennifer Culver, PhD, E-RYT for this low-impact water exercise that’s ideal for individuals with joint pain, auto-immunity, stroke and cancer survivors, pregnant women and everyone, helping all participants with strength, flexibil-ity and range of motion. It’s different from other forms of water movement (ex: Water Aerobics) in that it applies the yogic philosophy of balance, yoga movement, rhythm, breath work and relaxation. With the release of gravity, par-ticipants may find their body is able to find that optimal stretch. Pool noodles and kickboards are utilized to assist
with steadiness and float (ex: savasana.) Wednesdays & Fridays starting July 10th until August 16th at Berlin Aquatic Center. Time: 8:00-8:45 am 3-week session fee is $27, with discount for additional sessions.
