It also includes an article from the Fall 1995 issue of Race and Democracy newsletter detailing Dr. Messer’s tour. Two sections of the South Bend Tribune. One features an article written by Tribune staff writer Tim Harmon about the inaugural Freedom Summer 2000 tour, and another an article written by Tim Harmon entitled “Reliving ‘Bloody Sunday’” about Freedom Summer students walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. The bridge was the site of the infamous 1965 “Bloody Sunday” march where people protesting in favor of civil rights were met by violent opposition from local police.
